Was going to use it in the back seat to attach a tablet to for the kids on long trips.
Didn't do that one (yet). I have been concentrating to the front attachments.

Did this MOD over the weekend, except ran into a problem. With a 55mm bolt in this configuration: Bolt -> RAM Mount -> 6mm nut -> 6mm lock washer -> 6mm nut... it won't go deep enough into the hole for the threads of the bolt to catch. What am I doing wrong?

Try a 60mm. Some members in here are using them as well.

I did it this weekend using a 55mm and forgot to get the nuts and lock washer, fits fine imo.

I have a iPhone 6S Plus, anyone have the Plus size and using the regular Universal Xgrip? A few Amazon reviews indicated that you need the larger one but alot of people said they are using the regular size with the plus? I have the slim Otterbox case on mine.

In my pic above, that's the "Phablet" size as I have the 7+. I really don't think the smaller one would have worked with my case, and with how you have to expand it by squeezing two of the arms on one side or the other to slip the phone in and out, I don't know if you should risk it. On Amazon they were about the same price, I think I paid just under $28 for the phablet sized one.

Hmm, I already ordered them directly from Ram, I'll call them and try to get them to send the other one. Thanks.

Ordering direct was cost effective for you? The only thing I wasn't happy about on Amazon was the ball for the grab handle, it was like $18 and came with M8 bolts that aren't usable for me, but when I looked on Ram Mount's site, it was $8, but the shipping was another $16 for some reason. :-\

Agreed. Easy mod and it allows for convenience and safety at the same time! I need to stop forgetting to snap a pic of my setup to post on here

It was kind of a toss up because of the $18 price tag on the ball. But yeah the shipping hurt, I hate it when vendors gouge on shipping, I am sure it didn't cost that much to actually ship it. They did have a 20% off sale, I think it is still going on

This was so easy to do once I hunted down a 60mm bolt. The guys at Capital City Bolt & Screw got a huge kick out of me hunting this down & only looking for one. Dude really thought I needed locking washers, too. I use this every time I drive, it's a good place to store the phone as much as anything else. Definitely glad I saw this. SO EASY.
