Lots of great stuff in NM. And in May most of the fire rods will open back up. Then you could go get lost for days. If you find a specific run let us all know!

Now that it's warming up I'm looking to do some more MTB'ing around here. Anyone have any recommendations where my truck won't get broken into while I'm out on the trail?

Are you familiar with the Jemez Springs area? 485 turnoff just past the pueblo through Gillman tunnels then left at Porter landing up FR 534.

Thanks for the tip. I've only ridden White Mesa out in that area. Sounds like this would be the other side (East Side) of HWY 550? I'm looking it up more on MTBProject now.

Also, I'm down to drive to Santa Fe, Los Alamos, Socorro areas as well.

Looking at that area on MTBProject, I'm seeing the Las Conchas-Greigos Loop area. Is that the area you're talking about. Looks like a pretty fun loop. I'm curious if you've ridden the entire 23 miles loop to know how long it roughly takes to do the entire thing. THanks

Cedro Peak is a fun area. Chamisoso/Coyote loop phenomenally fun. To the south a bit is Pine Flats/Oak Flats and the 12Hrs of ABQ course. Up in Santa Fe there is the Dale Ball system and then the kick-ass downhill from the ski resort, Winsor trail.

I haven't done much more exploring but I heard Golden (north on 14 from Tijeras) is ok.

On the breaking in, shit happens. My fj was broken into at the Pine Flats parking lot. Had a backpack in plain sight, nothing in it. Learned the hard way to keep everything out of sight. Can't live in fear.

Thanks for the tips. I was looking at cedro earlier today. I've ridden it a few times but too much time in between them to know my way around. Apps these days make that a little easier.

What about the placitas trails. Are those pretty decent?

Haven't explored that area on the bike but now you have me thinking about. Been so enthralled with Cedro lately, haven't looked elsewhere.

Forgot about Otero Canyon as well. The ranger station in Tijeras is a good resource. I got a free trail map for the whole Cedro/Cibola area from one of the rangers while out riding. I live off of it, never gotten lost. I think there is a version online but haven't looked.

Do you like to ride Chamisoso/Coyote loop clock-wise or counter clock-wise?

counter, coming down Coyote. Probably try it CW just to see but seems like worse climbs going up Coyote.

Some friends and I went to Cedro Peak today and had a blast. That was our first time going there and will definitely be going back again.

Thanks for your input  I'm hoping to get out next week a couple times. I'm thinking of checking out Placitas early in the week and maybe something in the Cedro/Otero area at the end of the week. I'm going up to Durango at the end of May to do the Iron Horse road race and the MTB race as well that Sunday. I've been on the Road bike a decent amount lately, but I need to start working in more MTB'ing this next month. I'm hoping to start getting out here a couple times a week in addition to my road riding.

Enjoy it now, Cochiti Pueblo claims they own the right of way, now that they bought Dixons orchard from UNM, and are threatening to close it! Probably won't be open any more.
