Best part is that just a few days after installing my lift with the bigger tires, the wife asks when I'm going to get steps installed so she can get in easier. :D

While sliders aren't technically steps, they stick out far enough to be used as such and I'll just wrap some grippy skateboard tape (or something similar) so people can step safely.

Changed my front diff, transfer case, and 6mt transmission fluid yesterday. Front diff looked like black sludge, the rest were fine. Amsoil GL-4 in the transfer and transmission, and GL-5 in the diff.

When I bought my Tacoma, it already had a camper shell on the back but the dome light in the shell was not working. I checked an the bulb appeared to be burned out.

I replaced the bulb yesterday but the light still would not switch on. Since it was raining I didn't want to foll with it and decided I'd look at it later. I must have let the switch in the ON position when I quit.

Then this morning, driving to work (while it was still dark) I noticed in my rear-view that the shell dome light was on. I quickly then determined that the dome light must be getting power off of a tail light wire because when I switched off the headlights (of course the tail lights go off with them) the dome light went off as well. Whoever installed the shell tapped into the tail light for power. :facepalm:In other words, I can only turn on the shell dome light if the head lights are on.

So the question now is, what is a handy wire at the rear of the truck that is always hot and that I can tap into to wire it up properly?

I was going to do this to my All-Pro Apex sliders for the wife, but I have long legs and step out of the truck to the ground, the back of my pants touches the slider every time. If I put grip tape on them I feel it would make me rage way to often.

I had them powder coated with texture so they are not slick like most powder coating.

I have a 1/2" clearance on one side and 1/4" on the other side. I really don't want to cut the brackets out so I can use my OEM as a backup. We are headed to Moab in a week. I do plan to chop a little out of the side of Tha brackets just in case. I don't see it shifting that far to the side though.

I look forward to hearing how it goes. I want to do this mod too, but could never get a solid answer regarding interference. If the vibes go away I have no problem cutting away the carrier bearing brackets, I just don't want to lose the whole cross member.

this is my prerunner with 265/65/17. I definitely want it higher so i was either thinking of getting a leveling kit or a 3" lift using 5100s Blistein or oem and aal in the rear. I don't want spacers because of what i heard from other threads but i'm also a broke college student. No offroading, it will mainly be driven to work or school. Can anyone point me in the right direction. my budge would be for a level is 600 and a 3 inch lift is 800.

Is there any big difference in height from level to 3 inch. and I'm also thinking of getting new tires 265/70/17, I don't want to rub the fenders so just a slight increase.

Derped the chrome on my grill. Temporary fix until I buy a color-matched surround.

I could never get rid of the axle wrap or vibrations with the OEM setup. I must have adjusted it 30+ times. Tom woods told me that they have about a 85% success rate at fixing these problems on Tacoma's.

The normal shaft they make requires the rear axle to be at the same angle as the transfer case. The one that I got is a double carden which requires about a 3 degree shim to put the rear end as close to the same angle as the shaft itself.

After the install I have zero axle wrap and zero vibes with it by the way. That also have a money back guarantee. If it doesn't work well for you, send it back for a full refund. Awesome company.
