I’m in the final stages of pulling the trigger on a 2017 Tacoma 4X4 Off-road with the Premium Tech w/ JBL pkg and Tow pkg. I’ve been reading all the great threads out here to get up to speed … especially the infinite opinions on folding tonneau covers.

One thing that isn’t very clear to me and I’m not that confident in the dealer’s response is if the truck will come with Homelink as spec’d above. In searching Homelink on this forum, all I've found is DIY Homelink threads. I don’t see Homelink included on Toyota’s build site results, but I see other 2017 Tacoma sales specs where they list “TRD Off-Road Grade Package – incl off road grade package Auto-Dimming Inside Rearview Mirror w/Compass HomeLink”. I guess the question is will the truck come with Homelink as spec’d or will I need to buy the “Frameless Auto Dimming Mirror w/Homelink & Compass” as an accessory to get it?

Also, does Tacoma’s Homelink have the ability to control 3 different door openers or just 1? Thanks!

2016's didn't have Homelink, I have not read any changes to the 2017 except, rear power window. It is an easy plug and play swap, just make sure you get blue backlights to match.

    No homelink on these trucks.

No power seats either. Not even if you buy the 45K+ Pro.

Use a garage door opener. Put a SPST push button on the bottom of your column cover to activate it, put the control under the dash. Works great.

3 doors? Use 3 switches, mounted L-R just like the doors.

You do have to be able to open the opener and solder wire to the switch terminals, then to to the SPST switches.

This is a very common method of garage door security for convertibles and even motorcycles. Out of sight and all that.

It's part of an option package

You have to spec a package that gives you the homelink mirror. It can control 3 different "items", so Garage / House Alarm / Grenade Launcher etc.

    --EDIT--
I *think* it might be part of the 2017 tech package, but not 100% sure. It came stock on the Pro. Or you can simply add a $200 homelink mirror after you get the truck.

It was not included in the tech package on my 2017 TRDOR purchased in October. I bought one on eBay and made the switch.

Reeeeheheheaallly? Well then I stand corrected. I was not aware of this being an option. They added it for 2017?

Well you guys have the trucks, so you’d know - it just seems odd given the info posted by Toyota & their dealers. Clearly Toyota and Toyota dealers have documentation out there that HomeLink is on the 2017 Tacomas – at least some of them.

The official 2017 Tacoma brochure shows HomeLink as standard on Limited and Pro (https://www.toyota.com/tacoma/ebrochure), but not listed as an option on Off-Road.

BUT if you look at Toyota dealer posts of new 2017 Tacoma TRD Off-Roads (i.e. autotrader), you’ll see “TRD OFF ROAD PACKAGE (OC) -inc: off road grade package Auto-Dimming Inside Rearview Mirror w/Compass HomeLink” clearly listed in their options. I’ve seen it on at least 30+ posts for 2017 TRD Off-Road where the options are listed. They use the exact wording in different posts & different dealers, so it isn’t like it was a typo. Here’s just 2 as examples …

    http://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-sale/vehicledetails.xhtml?listingId=455053836

    http://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-sale/vehicledetails.xhtml?listingId=444764573

I also swear I saw it pop up on a spec sheet I built off the Toyota site, but I can’t find it anymore. At the end of the day, it won’t change my order. I’ll just see what I get and go from there.

No you don't, I was wrong. It's part of Limited & Pro trim's if I understand Toyota's web site correctly.

Thanks. So if it doesn't come on mine, sounds like I could buy the one that's on the Limited/Pro that controls 3 and swap out.

I think those ads are typos. I've got a 2017 TRD OR with the prem & tech. It has auto dimming mirror, but no homelink. I'm pretty sure it's only on Limiteds and Pros, as others have stated.

Agreed. That's why I posted the question here ... owners know what's on their cars. Thanks all!

Home link is only on limited and pro models. The premium tech w/ jbl just has auto dimming with a compass.

I've got the Homelink on my 2016 TRD Sport..... Upgrade and Tech Pkg.
It might be another one of those "Canadian" things like the tow pkg. (we all get it up here)..!! And it does control 3 items...!!

Cant speak to other trims but the Pro does come with a 3 button homelink, autodim and compass.

Cheaper to go third party rather than getting the one through the dealer.

Can find them all over ebay ranging from $150-$300 depending on condition.
