The Crate also has 2 skinny wheels and an assortment of tools (Snap On) I've heard. These skinny wheels allow you to remove the front 2 drag radials and replace them with smaller tires, saving the drag radials for later use on the rear.

They designed it so you don't have to trailer it. Just drive it to the strip. Swap on the skiinies. Run a 9sec 1/4 and drive it home. Only peeps I know do that are some local modified Gtrs.

But for me 90% of drag strip fun is taking a slow production car and building it to beat on people.

Would be dumb to by this without the Demon Crate, just for resale alone.

I bet not one is sold without it. I would also add the passenger seat for $1. Remove when needed.

You can't have everything.. the OP wants speed and grunt lower in the RPM band (my take anyway), and the ecoboost is pretty amazing in this regard. I think it does 0-60 in around 6 seconds, gobs of torque right off the bat, better than the V8. Short of a raptor or whatever, it's a pretty awesome setup. If you want fuel economy, then you just can't have all that. I've owned a Tundra, but when my taco gives up the ghost it would be a distant 3rd choice if I go back to full size next. The F150 looks like a stinkin' shipping crate, but man does it perform well.

I would love to see Toyota slap a turbo or 2 on the 2.7 I4 - I bet it could easily outperform the 3.5. So it won't last as long, which for the 2.7 means it'll go for 200k instead of 400k. Toy is not investing doodly-squat on their trucks, but hopefully that will change eventually as the competition heats up. Toy fans really need the new Ranger to be successful as hell.

Did a thread specific for the OVS stuff ever get created? I'm definitely in if we do a group but on those if it gets there.

    Looking forward to hearing more.

I bought my wife a 2017 Forester. I got the 2.0 twin-scroll turbo on it for me. So when my Tacoma has me feeling low. I go spool the Subi up. Problem solved.

But I agree, it leaves a little to desire. A twin scroll turbo on the Tacoma would be sweet.

For everyone still commenting, I did trade the Taco in for a used Tundra. The 5.7 is a godsend after driving that 3.5 v6.

I would have bought a tundra except its too big for my garage. I had a supercrew F150 before the tacoma and it sucked to drive around town and getting it into the garage was a chore.

Good choice. I felt like my past two 5.7 had better mpg then my tacomas. If I stay out of the throttle.

SC w/urd pulley, afe cai, URD LT's, TRD cat back. 375hp. Custom logos, tonneau cover, westin bar with piaa lights, aero force gauges, custom front air dam, Westin step bars.
I've got a 620hp 04 vette and I've been driving a 2010 dbl cab taco with a TRD blower/smaller pulley, cai, cat back, dtlt's that makes 365hp. 4 wheeler or not, I've got to drive something that will pass when need be.
Recently bought a 2015 TRD Pro and following the same formula and swapping the TRD blower over and going with urd's equal length headers this go around and expecting 375hp out of this setup.
I opted for the top dog of the 2nd gen because I had a blower for it already and the reports of the lack of juice from the 3rd gen.
Living at 6000ft and still expecting performance from whatever I'm driving, this recipie seems to be working. 23mpg's at 68mph ain't bad either.

It would really be nice to be able to stay on the thread topic. We're getting to hear from somebody who's working on some good improvements for our Tacoma's and some of y'all are rambling on about crap that doesn't apply to this. Normally I put up with all this chatter, but my free time is short and scrolling thru this junk is eating it up. Matt at OV,thanks for posting, already bookmarked your website & can't wait to get ahold of some better mapping.

Being able to tune or reflash the Toyota computer would be awesome and solve a lot of problems trying mod Tacomas.
A basic kit with premade tunes for adding intakes, exhaust and fixing factory problems would be very welcome for Tacoma owners.
An advanced kit for people that know how to tune would be a dream come true.
    1. Multiple selectable maps would be a good option, mpg, towing, performance, different fuels ect...
    2. Tuning that changes closed loop settings is the biggest problem with Toyotas and adding intakes ect.
    3. ecutek is a great example of a system that works very good at reflashing the ecu.
    4. I'm sure there is a lot of room for improvment on most of the factory maps
    5. I'm sure controlling the "atkinson system" would help
I think a good system that re flashes the Toyota ecu would be huge and would have a good market.
You should start a thread in the performance section and I'm sure you will get lots of feedback.
