Probably the best reason to add d-rings to the bed bolts. Stock tacomas don't come with good tie-down locations for gas cans.

Definitely good advice, I'll try that. I can back both of them out about 2 inches, and then its really tough from that point on.

Yeah, I chickened out on the drain holes. Better to do it right, then eliminate 2 out of the three drain holes.

I assume you have soaked them good with WD-40 or similar? Back them out and soak it good - let it sit over night - get the bit seated in good so you don't strip - and then tap the end of the wrench handle some solid blows - might be all it needs.

Good tip. I found that mine already had a set installed. I actually thought it was factory, until I saw this.

Mine are actually installed separate from the bed bolts. The original owner must have just drive a hole and mounted them.

I probably should get those bed bolts out, clean them up, and anti-seize them. Looks like they could use it. Are there any better after market replacements? Would love to ditch the torx.

Brand new one's are available from Toyota - and there may be a stainless replacement out there - but I think if you remove the old ones, clean them, paint them, and anti-seize them you will be in good shape - and the sooner you do it the easier it will be.

Picking up two tomorrow at the dealer, $25 with sales tax. Makes it easy for me, no extra drilling or anything. Hoping the bolts come out easy, they should, the truck only has 11,000 miles on it.

I picked up two of the tie down hooks last week and installed them yesterday on my 2011. I was pumped because my 20v impact zipped them right out. Did some dremmeling and threw some paint on and mounted them how I wanted them to face. Wished I could get them to swivel but oh well. I have them both facing each other. Glad to have those two extra mounting spots.

Very nice work - are the front 4 the Dodge D-rings? Nice the way they fold flat. And did you paint your bolts?

Thanks! No, they are actually the $1.99 rings posted a few messages up. They surprised all of my expectations, and seem to be the real deal. 1,000lb WLL!

Yes, I did remove and paint my bolts. Mine had not begun to rust at all, but there was bare metal after I filed the washer retaining rings flat.

Follow up: I picked up the D ring tie downs from the dealer. Used my battery impact but didn't really need it. Bolts came right out and right back in with the tie downs D rings attached.

@jpowell1161 - How did you cut the bed mat so neatly with the circle cut-outs? Looks great!

I went to HD and picked up a Milwaukee 3" hole saw with an arbor. The bed mat is tough, but it went through it!
