Hello, I've been scouring the forums for lift advice and am leaning on an OME kit for my '17 Tacoma DCLB TRD OR. A local dealer is selling an Iron man lift for $1395 installed. Does anyone have any recommendations on who/where to buy an OME lift kit from? I read about Wheelers, but they're down in Grant's Pass, Oregon. Anyone closer to PDX that anyone recommends?

My wants include: 2-3" coilover lift with 33" tires on 17 or 18" wheels. I want a nice lifted aggressive stance without affecting the driveline/steering components dramatically. Usually go up to the mountains for snowboarding and the occasional camping trip in the woods, nothing extreme.

Pics for attention and recommendations. These are not mine, but love the stance/height and would love to replicate this.

I don't mind purchasing the kit online, but will still need a local installer, unless someone is willing to help out this Newb.

    Thanks in advance!

Just keep throwin' money at it.
If you are going to order one, Marie @HeadStrong Off-Road is who I would talk to. I just ordered my OME full kit with Dakar rears this week from her. Great to talk to on the phone and will run you through your options. Also, free shipping and the best price I could find around.

As for the local installer. There is a PNW Expedition group on Facebook and they are mostly based in Portland. They do shop days and will help each other out on projects.

@koloheboy As @irish_11 mentioned HeadStrong is one of the popular places local folks go thru to get a lot of their parts.

There are a few local guys running OME setups, and they'd be more than happy to answer any questions, and even give you some advise on other things to do at the same time so you don't run into issues.

Check out the PNW Expedition thread at https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/pnw-expedition-meet-thread.363783/ and/or in FB under PNW Expedition.

We do try to do a Mod Day at a Garage with lifts at least once a month, but every other weekend (sometimes every weekend) we end up at someone's garage working on at least a couple of rigs. =)

@Shikokaon and @irish_11 ty so much for your response. After calling several local 4x4 shops, the camps are split between leveling kits and OME kits. I realize that it depends on the situation, but prefer to talk directly to local enthusiasts who are willing to help. I will check out the PNW Expedition thread and hope to find some people willing to help me out. Ok, now going to try and find some easy off-roading places nearby!!

@koloheboy I finished installing my lift this weekend. Took a bit longer than I expected, but the gravel was not a fun surface to work on. @HeadStrong Off-Road Lift turned out great. Thanks for answering my questions!

Hey @irish_11 truck looks good, man. I commend you for installing it on your own.

May I ask which OME components you purchased and what was your before/after height increase? thanks

Thanks! I still need to make the measurements (I'll do that tonight). The kit is: http://www.headstrongoffroad.com/st..._Emu_Kit_w/_Dakar_Leaf_Pack_-_05__Tacoma.html

I bought the 886x coils off a local guy, so everything minus that came from Headstrong. I went with the 90000 struts and installed the full leaf pack (some remove one of the leafs) as well as the trim spacer.

@koloheboy I am running full OME setup with 887 coils and Dakar leafs. I had to run 1/2" spacer up front to even up the sagging from extra weight. If I were to do it again I'd go with 888 coils up front or 886 if you plan to get a front bumper, winch, armor, etc that adds weigh. I live in Hillsboro if you want to see my truck in person one of these days. Headstrong is awesome as well. Marie usually gives you a better price than advertised if you contact her. Mahalos!

Thanks for everyone's input so far. Hopefully Marie with @HeadStrong Off-Road will be done with the move so that I can order my kit.

Here's where I'm at so far, so I'd appreciate any feedback from the local group before I pull the trigger:

Option 1: OME kit with Dakar leaf pack
    888x coils
    90021 soft ride strut assembled
    Light racing UCA's

    Option 2:
Same as above but Bilstein 6100's up front and 5160 for the rear.

Pls let me know any feedback and if I need anything else for my build. I'll. It food and beer for our next garage day!!

Well, on the way back down from Mt Hood, I stopped by Precision and they suggested a 4" Zone off-road lift kit. $1,700 installed. Has anyone ever heard of this kit? Apparently they're an offshoot of BDS.

You're going to have to cut your cross member to install that lift. You can't go back to stock. Well you can if you can weld the pieces they cut off back on. It's most likely a spacer lift too. With that amount of money you can buy a better 3" suspension. I wouldn't do it but it's up to you.

Yeah I was shocked that they recommended that lift kit. As I was reading another lift kit thread I had to laugh because anything 4-6" is considered "mall crawler" status and generates lots of hate on TW. I'll stick to one of my previous options for the price!
