You gotta feel the washer crush doing it without a torque wrench. And with the aluminum heads it's easier to strip the threads.
They may be a bitch coming out. A little it of anti seize on the new plug's threads will make the next plug change easier.

PCV Valve; Everyone seems to always dismiss this. A bad PCV valve will increase oil consumption. Replace it

This is very true. At GM we've had 2 recalls on PCV valves for oil consumption.

Considering how cheap they are; its a quick replacement about 10-15 minutes of work. Bad PCVs can blow out seals if they are clogged or they can suck in oil that goes into the intake tubes and burn oil. I've seen it on so many vehicles; folks comes to me and always tells me they are burning oil but the vehicle only burns a quart or so every so many thousand miles, some even every thousand miles. I always replace the PCV and oil consumption issues are fixed or either seals stop blowing because a clogged PCV can actually cause oil leaks due to crankcase pressure.

Change it and report back after 1000-2000 miles and see if your oil consumption has improve(lessen)

Well I screwed up! f&#(!! I got all the plugs changed and was tightening the coil assembly bolts down and I freakin snapped one in half from over torqueing it. So I have one coil pack that is loose. I had no choice but to just slide it down and over the spark plug and put everything back together because I have no other vehicle. I started it and drove it and all seems fine. Where do I get another bolt to replace this? I quickly measured with my caliper and it appears to be a 6mm X 29mm? It uses a 10mm socket.

I got lucky and it broke off with enough sticking out that I was able to use vice grips to get it out. But now I am in search of a replacement bolt. I used the torque specs up in post #27 and I guess I read it wrong because 80 ft lbs is not the right number! I torqued my spark plugs to 13 ft lbs. So, I am driving to work today with a loose coil pack and then to the hardware store to try to match up this bolt.

Ace hardware may have a bolt that size.

I am headed there on my lunch break and hopefully match it up. I just ordered (4) new bolts from Toyota @ $2 a piece and they will be here Friday morning. There was only three dealerships in the country that had that bolt in stock.

On a more serious note, who really uses a torque wrench for spark plugs?

I've changed dozens of plugs over the years and never used a torque wrench. I turn them until they are snug and I've never had a problem.

See posts #15, 17,18, and 19 of this thread. I agree on not needing a torque wrench on spark plugs but it gave me an excuse to pick up one.

I was going to say 15 ft lbs but I guess the 4 banger is less. I did not torque spark plugs for years until I bought a plug spitting Ford 5.4. Those coil boots fit pretty tight so I would not worry about it until your bolts come in. If you are and can't find one try Fastenal.

I got the bolt matched up at the hardware store. The pitch was slightly different than the original bolt and about a mm longer so when I snugged it down it was cutting new threads. So, no big deal that bolt will be only bolt for that coil pack now. Everything is back together and running great! I also dumped a bottle of Techron in my tank for the first time to help clean the injectors and the rest of the fuel system. My plugs were a bit white-ish so truck is running a little lean and maybe this will clear it up.

These are what my Denso plugs looked like. Thoughts?
