I haven't taken it in to get the squeal checked out. I just went ahead and replaced it myself the first time. And I haven't had time to get it checked out this time. I assumed they would have replaced the first one under warranty, but at the time I lived about an hour away from any Toyota Dealerships so I didn't even try.

If you lube the belt only and the sound quit's then it is definately the belt or the belt tension. Did you replace it with the same brand that came off the original belt? I would.

I have been having the same problem. I am dropping my truck off at the dealer tomorrow morning to get it looked at along with the window molding on the driver front door. I have 35770 miles on my truck so it happened just in time. I have the platinum warranty as well, but I don't want to take any chances.

I took my rig out and played by the river two weeks ago and developed the a squeal while I was down there. Tried the normal cleaning/dressing of the belt to eliminate the squeal, no go. Napa didn't have the belt in stock so I called Schucks and they wanted $38 for a Goodyear belt. Called the dealer and they wanted $18 and the belt comes with a 1 year warranty! Took all of five minutes to put the new belt on and it's been silent ever since. The upside is if it starts squeeling again within the year, which I'm sure I will, it's not going to cost me. I'm interested to know if the Gates or the Goodyear will be less prone to squeeling over the factory belt.

Not sure? That is pretty cheap either way though? I thought the belt would be a lot more. Glad you fixed for now

Mine shredded itself at 250k. Never any squeaking, warning of any kind. No way to tell if/when it needs replaced that I'm aware of. I checked it at every oil change. If it breaks, shut down immediately. These aluminum motors can't take high heat.

You may not hear or feel anything when it breaks. You'll suddenly lose PS, red battery icon will appear, temp. will top out in about 5 minutes. You have time, but you have to recognize what it is, and react quickly.

Belt breakage can be caused by a seized bearing, so carrying a spare belt and tools may not help.

I went with a Bando belt, $18 on Amazon. Has been perfect so far.
