Should be fine, the 2.7 is just a 3.4 minus two cylinders, upright and with a timing chain. Lol. It'll work just fine.

You should be fine with any standard filter, but I would advise adhering to a strict maintenance schedule! No going over on your oil changes, whatever interval you decide on. Im gonna stick to a 3k filter change myself once im all boosty boosting

Is it possible to find a decent manual boost controller for less than $50

:anonymous: never tried it, but seems like an inexpensive way to boost higher. Probably better than the Chinese stuff too.

I did this :D I substituted some parts but it worked, I just didn't pipe it in correctly and it was either 8 psi or 500. The Ebay one I have works good too and has detent for better adjustment.

Before I started boosting again was putting in the whole springs. Man so dirty my engine bay.

Interesting. Wouldn't have thought it'd take two springs to get there. Means that they have a wide range of springs.

    Intake, exhaust, lift. Typical stuff.
Not sure what this refers to but the 2.7 is a 95mm stroke and the 5VZ is an 82 IRRC. When boosting the 2.7, you're weakness is the head gasket and the con rods. Both 3RZ and 2RZ can make good power with a performance head gasket and ARP studs. The 2.7 still has weak con rods due to the 95mm stroke which is why most people prefer the 3RZ for its higher reving and bit stronger internals.
If you get or build a manual boost controller that uses the ball bearing and spring, be mindful of the fact that condensation can build up over the years and cause the ball or spring to rust in place, causing your turbo to overboost. Make sure you disassemble and inspect every year or so. I use some de-electric grease in mine but I'm careful to make sure it’s not gooped. You want the ball and spring to maintain a constant feedback.

I wasn't too crazy about this option. Be pretty hard to keep your pressure consistent. I'd use a small air compressor regulator if I was looking for something cost effective. 3 or 4 port EBCS ftw though.

Yea with the precision turbo WG it gives best value for what you pay for. They provide springs to boost From 1.5 psi to 30psi I believe.

I think I'm gonna weld a flange for my WG to the turbine housing. Right at the top, easy to change springs and ensures super constant boost levels. The CX kit puts it 90 degrees to the up pipe, just awful really.
    I wasn't being serious :D

I wanted to do that when I had been planning to go twin turbo but plans changed. Because the exhaust housing is cast, you'd have to heat that thing up real good to get the welds to stick. Cool down will have to be gradual too.

Get a cast iron pot, fill with sand, heat with turbine inside, take out, weld, place turbine back in cast iron pot, let fire die out?
Atleast thats how I saw an old dude do it on youtube. He was repairing an old hit and miss single cylinder.
