Went through Crutchfield and got everything I needed. Their customer support is fantastic and they send you everything you need to get things mounted. This set up is crystal clear even at its loudest. My current audio set up runs as follows.

Stereo Unit: JVC KW-V220BT DVD Reciever ~ $200
Front Doors: Memphis Audio 15-PRX69C, 6x9 Component System ~ $190
    Rear Doors: Memphis Audio 15-PRX620, 6-3/4" 2-way Speakers ~ $100

I decided to leave the factory tweeters in place to cut down on the amount of wiring I had to do. I also used a single Dynamat two door pack across all four doors.

The 6x9's give me a decent amount of bass but I have plans to add a 10" sub at some point.

Do the soundproofing in the front doors when do they speakers. That way you only have to take the doors apart once. Hushmat/dynamat in the doors (as pictured above) makes a BIG difference in the road noise and the stereo sound.

We have lots of build in the Audio section of this site. In general, I found my gen2 to be more easy to work on, for audio and EVERYTHING, than just about any vehical you can buy right now. It's a great DIY project on your tacoma.

Also, get a head unit with bluetooth hands free phone support. It's a great feature, and it keeps you and others on the road more safe.

+1 to ALL of this. Decide what components you want, then COMPARISON SHOP any/all of these places for the best prices. Patience is the key - I assembled my components over a period of months, until I had everything I needed.
