Removing the rear seat belt mount upper trim panel

I removed the rear seats and headrests from my SR5 for more storage room behind the seats, and I want to remove the upper trim panels that cover up the upper seat belt mounts so I can remove the seat belts.

It says SRS airbag on the top of the cover. So can that cover be easily popped off without any issues regarding the SRS airbag, and are the SRS airbags actually behind the cover, and can this cover come off without having to remove any of the other trim panels.

take a razor blade and carefully pop the SRS badge off, remove the 10mm bolt Underneath it. then pull the plastic C pillar panel off

 

Disconnect the battery then you dont have to worry about the airbag popping

Do you need to use trim panel removal tools to pop the cover off.

 

Trim removal tools or a knife like mentioned above, will make things easier and less likely to get marred up.

 

the SRS logo is such a tight fit, a thick panel tool will most likely show marks. Get a flat blade/razor to pop it off. The rest of the entire panel just use your hands.

 

Got one side done and put back together. The engineers at Toyota could have easily put a small notch on the SRS logo cover so that it could easily be popped out with a little hook tool or a small flat blade screw driver, and no one would even notice it, but no.

 

I’ve had the same problem, though I doubt they were designing for the few of us who want to strip the truck lol
