i don't have a wealth of experience for comparison but i do know chemical guys v38 made a mirror out of the swirl marks on my MGM.

i do have some deep scratches that require some serious cut. i need to figure out what to use for this.

Check out Griots Fast Correcting Cream. For "over the counter", Meguiars Ultimate Compound is hard to beat.

Griots is well respected. I have switched over to Shine Supply Classic Cut. Can pretty much be used as a 1 step polish depending upon paint characteristics.

For reasonably heavy correction, my go to product is Meguiar's M101. It's not cheap, but it cuts and finishes beautifully and doesn't make a ton of dust either. You will need to follow it up with a finer polish, but the finish it leaves will surprise you.

To me you want to look for a system when you are looking at compounds and polishes.

Meguiars & Menzerna are currently my goto products for all the detailing I do.

For basic corrections I will use Meguiars Microfiber system. The complete system is comprised with a Compound, Polish and a final polish /wax.

The nice part about this system when I access a car or truck I can paint correct the areas I need first then go an polish the complete car and then do a finish polish / wax. All with just 3 products and two tapes of Microfiber pads.

The other system I use when I am working with hard paints or I need to do heavy correction is M101 compound and M205 polish. Then a paint sealant + wax. The M101 I use a Microfiber cutting pad then I move to a yellow foam pad for the M205.

Currently from Menzerna I only use there polish with a white pad. But I read about there complete system and they have everything from great compounds, polishes and sealants. FYI Menzerna products are being rebranded by there importer now and they are called Jescar

In the end like I said earlier you want to find a system. There are many great products on the market but I tend to only use products that most professional detailers will use.

    Two Questions:
    1) What kind of machine will you be using to do the paint correction / polishing?

The reason why I ask is the type of machine you use will have a major impact on the product you would use. You will not use the same products with a rotary as you would with a DA.

    2) Do you have Photos of what you are looking to correct?

The reason why I ask is a ton of people always say they need to compound there car or truck, when they may only need to polish. To me I always start with the least aggressive method to see how the paint reacts to that method before going more aggressive.

I hope this helps and let me know if you have any questions

    Ken

3M Imperial Hand Glaze. Used it when necessary for 20 years. Tried other things when I couldn't find it (before ecommerce was a big thing) and for fine scratches like swirl marks, nothing I've used compares.

Remember that a Glaze only temporarily fills fine scratches. It does not actually correct the surface defects. And most glazes come off with the next few car washes.

Never experienced that any return after a few washes (or a few years). The 3M stuff has a mild solvent of some kind. Smooths out scratches on plastic.

-Maguire's m205 w/ Lake Country White polishing/finishing pad for light swirls (2 passes)

-Maguire's m105 w/ Lake Country Orange cutting pad (2 passes) followed by Maguire's 205 w/ Lake Country White polishing/finishing pad (2 passes) for heavy swirls.

    50/50's of this process

If you like the M105 for serious correction, you're going to absolutely love their M101. All of the cut of M105 with virtually zero dusting - which was my big gripe with M105. And yes, M205 is a great follow up.

I really like Menzerna products, but I've started using 3M's rubbing compound in the purple bottle. creates a bit of dust but it cuts very quickly. I usually follow up with a couple stages of polish from Menzerna

Been out of the game for awhile I'll have to check it out if the dusting is down. That would be my only gripe, that said the final wash takes care of it so it didn't bother me much.
