We have our 3rd gen side rail caps designed and prototyped. Everything fits like a glove and looks great, so we're ready to order a big batch of them from the laser cutter.

Since there is a factory option for a tonneau cover for 3rd gen Tacoma's that will require its own side rail cap design, we need to get an idea of what to order.

Will you be using these with the factory tonneau cover? (either way, please answer poll)

So, if you plan on purchasing these at some point, please take our poll to help us order the correct quantities.

    Thanks!!

PS: There will obviously also be a package deal with our 3rd gen tailgate caps.

    Now, here's pictures:

I wonder how hot these would get in PHX?

Looks good. How is the thickness compared to oem rails?

These are 1/8" thick steel, so about the same.

Except these are 20x stronger......because steel is real.

but, they'll likely be a couple orders of magnitude better at transferring that heat to your arms when you reach over them. and hold more heat energy, so they won't cool down as quickly while searing flesh.

some parts of living in az aren't glamorous...

Would I need to add any type of barrier to the bed rail? Between painted surface and rail. I know from another owner when I swapped rails from purchasing a tonneau cover, the plastic rails scratched the paint.

Probably unnecessary for some, but some people like myself care.

That's what i was thinking, too. Can you imaging trying to reach for another beer in a cooler in the bed, in August?

We will be supplying the caps with 1/16" thick foam tape to eliminate metal to metal contact.

Probably not. The last time I put stake pocket holes in the side rail caps, people freaked out.

Interested because it would be another way to make my revolver x2 more water tight. I think it seal much better if it had something to lay flat against vs the texture patterns on the stock set

How come your making these in steel but make the tailgate cap with aluminum?

Interested to cause I have the X2 as well.
Do these sit flush with the interior bed as opposed to the plastic cap which protrudes out a bit?

Because of the added weight to the end of the tailgate. Makes it swing down too fast

Edit. I did something about this on my own. I have a aluminum L piece with a magnet attached. I leave it in the bed, when I load my bed I place it on the inside edge of the tailgate to protect it.

Need these because my KB Voodoo tailgate cap sits lower than the side plastic, creating a small gap where the Diamondback HD cover seals the tailgate.
    These would even that out.

You are correct. With our side rail caps and tailgate cap, it's a perfectly flat surface all around.
