My experience with my 2017 has been great. I am not disparaging those that report problems, there are enough people reporting issues that I can't believe it's their imagination. But.......

I travel regularly on a two lane highway with a 70 mph speed limit, with a snowmobile, deck and ramp in the bed, pretty much at or near the truck's load limits. People cruise around 75 on this road, but you often get behind slow pokes or people with big trailers going slower or exactly 70.

I never have any problem passing, even fully loaded. I give it the foot, she down shifts, and I go from 75 to 85 almost instantly and pass. I read the forum sometimes and wonder if I am driving a different truck.

45-80 MPH pretty much goes like this... back to the future, minus 8 MPH.

I can confirm this is 100% accurate. My limited taco is pretty much the quickest vehicle on the road and I attribute its blinding speed to the sunroof and leather seats.

Just downshift then pass, just as you would in a MT. You'll only need 200 feet of road, angels will sing, and all the ladies'll drop their panties...

I shift my limited at about 8200 rpms. It pulls hard. I think 45-80 just a matter of couple seconds. Like FritoBandito said. Limted has some advantage when it come to capability.

I totally agree with you.... I filled my tranny and did the TSB's and I've got a TRD Sport that'll smoke any "Limited" or Hemi's out there, possibly even a Prius...

I'm real happy with this truck..... I have no idea what the rest of the world is talking about regarding "searching" for gears.... It's a 6 speed it WILL "search" ... I wonder what the 9 speeds do to find the appropriate gear..?? I remember my 1965 Chevy Impala did NOT search for gears as it only had 2 of them.... when it wanted to change, it had a very quick decision to make..(the OTHER one) hehehe:rofl:

My Tacoma Limited doesn't search for gears. I think it is in 6th by time it gets to 25 MPH.

The 2016, 2017 Gen 4 Prius are actually quite fun to drive. Much better cars in every way to the gen 3!
