I just noticed a small rock chip on the front edge of my hood. Has anyone used any touch up paint with good results?

Yes. I used touch up paint for the Inferno color and it matched perfectly...and that color is tough to match if not the toughest.

I got the paint through my dealership and it was $18. And it was matched up to my car via the VIN#.

I had to wait a week for them to order it but they keep basic colors on stock.

Go this route and you cannot go wrong.

Just as @InfernoTonka said, the pen from the dealer works well. I had to get one for our Hot Lava Rav4, its a shade different than inferno, but the dealer used the vin# and ordered. It has a ballpoint tip like an ink pen and a brush for larger spots.

I'm considered an expert at touching up rock chips. Toyota touch up paint is the best to start with. There's going to be a lot of paint on the brush when you pull it from the tube so get as much off before you start. Like in school, stay within the lines (paint chip) otherwise it looks sloppy. If you mess it up, just wipe it off before it dries and start over. Once your happy with the first application, let it dry 10-15 minutes and apply another, than another, than another. BTW, the pen does work for scratches but the orange collar inside the paint tube has to be removed first.

Typed "touch up" and clicked "titles only" in search. Came up with this:

By who? We're going to need a list of references and previous addresses for the last ten years.

He did have some pretty good tips and was right about the orange collar in the dealer pen. Seems legit to me.
