I just drove my jetta that's modded for the first time in 4 weeks today.
pulled off my street and pushed the throttle like I would in the truck, before I realized it I was doing 80km lol. streets only a 50km.
Forgot how quick that thing takes off once the turbo is spooled.

    Thats awesome.
But I heard the guy from Pelfreybuilt say that 37s are the new 35s, so I can really fit 37s?
Just want to make sure I...................... I mean my friend, gets the right size.

There is a mod on the forum for ppl who want to drive with ECT on all the time, the search is your friend my search skill suck A$$ too, so I can't help but someone here prob can help if you ask.

Personally I wouldn't, (mod ect) not at least till you're past the warranty, but there's really no need for it. I only use it when traffic is slower (45 and below) and I need quick throttle response to get around the sight seeing tourist. But if you just slide the shift stick into S mode and hit the ECT under those conditions, you'll be amazed at the change in response.

Most of the time she responds just fine without any action on my part, but after a few maneuvers below 45mph, she tries to lug to save gas and that's when I hit the afterburners.

    Hope that helps!
    Cheers!

I've got you beat. I used to sell Datsun's in the early 80's. 4x4 king cab deluxe and 103hp I believe. It was so anemic that the cruise would kick out going up a slight incline. We've come a long way, I think.

Magically the white knights will say despite holding RPMS longer and the vehicle accelerating faster you won't notice a mpg drop...riggghht.

I am going to continue to drive without ECT on and hope the transmission learns more about my driving. Thanks all for helping me!

Check out Pedal Commander, got one for my taco and love it. Can control your acceleration (still doesn't fix the jump though, but after you get used to it you'll automatically 'feather' it and avoid the jump from accelerating from a dead stop). Worth it in my opinion compared to trying to constantly hit ECT every time I get in

But really though, I didn't get it because I'm too lazy to press a button. It accelerates alot nicer now and I can fine tune it pretty nicely with all the settings. There was a thread a few months ago where the guy from the company posted a discount code for $50, that's what made me pull the trigger on mine

It's will always hunt for gears cuz it's mapped for mpg's. Always shifting early, even uphill. ECT shifts approximately where I would if I was driving a manual,

Since how well the trans shifts now after having the TSB Rev 1 done, I find myself not having to engage the ECT mode hardly at all any more.

Here is the scenario: say you keep a constant speed on a flat road. In ECT, You will be revving the motor a little higher. This will increase the friction losses of the system by a little bit. It costs a little more gasoline to make the power to combat the friction losses to hold your constant RPM. You will use a little more gas. Not much though.
