Hey all, I've got a local garage trying to steer me away from going with a Toytech Ulimate lift or something similar (like the coil Bilstein/Dakars that Trippin & Marie from HS stated above). He keeps telling me that the 3" lift won't work due to the angles, etc. My plan was to go with the SPC/Light Racing UCAs to deal with that issue. He's trying to convince me of going with Bilsteins up front and putting blocks in the rear to create the 3" lift I want. From everything I've read the 3" lift with a shocks and leaf in the rear seems to be the most common. His argument is that with the added leaf in the rear it will be too harsh of a drive. Any suggestions?

*he's also a Rough Country rep and was trying to get me to buy one of those lifts - everything I've read RC is a poor choice.

lifting with springs is almost always preferred over lifting with solid pieces of metal. Lots of people get 3" lifts, yes, there are more potential problems, especially with CV boots, but almost all of those have been solved in one way or another by someone by now.

My local shop tried to sell me a Rough Country 3" lift as well. Marie knows her shit. I went with 5100 Bilsteins on all four corners with OME springs and 1" toytec blocks in the rear and am very happy. After arguing with my local shop that set my shocks to their highest setting when I told him to set them to zero I called Marie who was more than willing to put him in his place on how suspension works. He set the shocks to my original requested height and discounted my original quoted installation cost for my troubles.

Alot of members will probably say stay away from block and spacer kits. With that being said, i think with a couple more hundred dollars you can get a decent kit like this one

    http://www.headstrongoffroad.com/store/p401/Coil/Bilstein_5100_Kit_(HS16BK-1).html

It really all depends on what you will be doing with your truck.

From what I've read spacers in the front will equate to harsh rides, although not right away but it will happen. The same for the rear with blocks. Eventually, you'll prematurely wear out your suspension you're going to end up swapping it out.

This has probably been discussed before , when doing a King's and UCA lift do you still need to used the spacer to correct for drivers side lean?

No diff drop. They do almost nothing on a 2nd gen. Uca's maybe. If you don't wAnt to spend the money don't. Plenty of folks on here without them that gave good alignment numbers. You can get them later if you need them.

Hey guys, i have a few questions. I have a 04 DC with a camper with a roof rack on it and bed drawers. If i had to guess between 350# and 450# when loaded with all my gear. On the front i got an addicted offroad bumper im planning on installing soon with maybe a winch too. I currently have stock, springs, shocks and leaf springs with a spacer block lift. I needed the lift to fit my new 33x12.5x15 mud terrains.Yes spacers suck, but they gave me the look i wanted. (See current pic)

BUT at a price. Both inner cv boots shit the bed. They blew out at the smaller clamp end at the inner axel side.

Cheap fix (approx $300 in parts and tools + my time: replace the boots and add a diff drop. Then cross my fingers that this fixes the issue.

Pricey fix: trash the block spacers. Invest in some height adjustable shocks and rear leafs to maintain the height need for my tires to still fit and support the added front and rear weight.

What set up would you guys recommend I go with?
Its my daily driver. I do not go wheeling. I might take it offroad 2-4 times a year. My main goals:
    1. Supporting all the weight with no problems 2. A capable offroad truck
    3. Somewhat comfortable ride
    3. Appropriate lift needed for 33s and keep close to current height.
    5. Keep the 33s M/T, but i will most likely switch to 33 AT for my next set.
6.Id like to stay under 1k on parts.

Please let me know what you all suggest, this is my first truck and id like to get it right this second time around.
