I believe I am about to go this route...the OEM king replacement shocks limit my Dakars and I want the full droop!

How far off base would I be If wanted to run the king 2.0s and this kit on stock height truck?

I'd like to gain some extra flex but I'm not really ready to do a full blown lift yet. Still learning on these trucks

(I'm coming from an xterra that I run revolver shackles and extended bisteins for a 3 inch lift at stock height)

    Appreciate the help

I assume you would be keeping the stock leafs then? If that's the case the shock swap would be canceled out by the factory leafs. You wouldn't be able to get any more flex or travel out of them without breaking.

Appreciate the info, I guess I'll add this to the list and do it all once. I was looking for something to stay on the stock leafs for now. Mine are still in good shape and not sagging at the moment

Out of curiosity what I run the risk of damaging? The leaves themselves or the shocks?

It's actually in pretty good shape considering it's age. I only have 72k miles on it. The pic is a little missleading as we painted and undercoated everythign back there when we finished.

I'm looking for some suspension advice.. I plan on running King 2.5 mid-travel coilovers in the fronts. I had been planning on running just a 1.5" AAL in the rear. So two questions:

-Would a 12" shock be of any value with just a 1.5" AAL?
-Would Dakars be a better option?

The only reason I was going with 1.5 is because I really don't carry much weight with me, and I don't like having a truck where the rear sits higher than the front. I'm worried that the Dakars will make the rear sit too high for my liking. I'm still pretty new to this stuff. Ask me any question on the corvetteforum and I've got you covered But Tacomas/off-road suspension is still new to me..

Really the only way to tell would be cycle your suspension measure then pull the shock and cycle it again. If you get more travel then with the shock in the 12's will benefit your suspension.

Would the added length be canceled out if I ran some expedition leafs? I'm building a heavy truck, but I still like to play in the rocks.

Jerry, would King PR2512-SS 2.5x12" Smoothies work on this kit? I realize you designed it initially for 2.0 shocks...

It's 3" wide I've seen people do it but I have not tested it myself.
