No, unfortunately it was the only Toyota/Lexus Model to finish below average in reliability.

No need to apologize, no actual offense taken. I just wanted all you lemoners to know that while we may not be in the same boat, I don't doubt your truck has issues just because mine doesn't.

    Not everybody shares your views/compassion.
Many here get berated due to shitty luck and not being happy with a problem truck. There's even some crackpots that swear there are no issues.

yes but it was a first year run.
I'm sorry but problems should be expected in first model runs.

Now mind you shit like this is definitely unacceptable, especially considering its a differential, its not like its new tech, but all those saying the new tacomas are terrible because they've had some problems is stupid. What new vehicles don't? For fuck sakes the eco boost had problems for the first 3 years.
All vehicles have problems, that's what the warranty is for.

The problem comes when dumb fuck dealers dismiss every problem as 'normal'

Traded the 2015 TRD Pro 6spd Supercharged on a PowerWagon and could not be happier. My 2011 Tacoma with the TX Baja package (Added by me) is still treating me great. My 1985 Toyota never skips a beat.
As I was in my 2015, with stock rear springs that, no joke or exageration would completely bottom out with the empty tounge of my trailer on. I can pick it up, so that means not very heavy. I mean this is fresh off the lot, before the first oil change. Toyota, after many hours of my wasted time only offered "advise" that I would have to use a distributing hitch. For MAYBE 300 lbs, and the trailer was around 1800 total.

As I was with my 5th gear, that is and has been useless since almost new. Grinds all the time. Many many trips to the dealer. Nothing useful.

As I was with a stock clutch that slipped under load, with no visible wear and no damage. In fact they wanted to take it apart to investigate, of course I would have to pay for labor. I took them the flywheel, clutch and pressure plate, and they admitted there was no damage or wear, and corporate fell back on "non warranty item"

My 2013 killed battery after battery, they never found the problem.

My 2013 power steering pump grenaded, that they fixed.

I have been thuroughly dissapointed by Toyota's service department / warranty work. Sales, and the actual techs have been nice.. but corporate and the dealer head honcho's have been terrible.

Also, while we are at it. I went to the only Toyota dealer in hundreds of miles with an in house body shop after an accident a few years back, had to get special permission from the insurance. It was a HUGE mistake, 2 years after the accident the frame was still crooked. Insurance did not care because the Toyota dealer had done all the work, and when I went to pick it up it was visibly messed up still. So they had to re-do it all with insurance, and change some stuff. After 2 times insurance was less than happy to find a solution. Turns out that in looking foe the best care, and going to a non preffered by the inaurance compamy body shop... they did not care or warranty it.

You're 2013 probably had a defective alternator that was sucking your batteries dry like a vampire.

    Im positive it did.

I dont remember how many times I went to the dealer so they could waste my time, but I can tell you for SURE they put at least 4 batteries in.. 5 I think. That truck was my favorite in specs or idea of all my Tacoma's.. but also by far the worst Toyota I have ever owned.

I wonder how you call corporat Toyota in Japan. The Japanese, unlike Americans, don't act so unprofessional. They would be ashamed of how things are being handled here with their products, and stand behind them.

In my opinion this is a North American Toyota issue.

The key is to acknowledge the faults and failures, yes there are turd gens out there

I see it as luck of the draw nowadays, some trucks are high speed low drag, others have problems

Thankfully my 2017 has had no issues, but if they do arise I am gifted with the knowledge database that is Tacomaworld

    I 100 PERCENT AGREE!

I have said it many times, I love that Toyota builds in the USA and has such and American presence etc, I am proud to buy American made Toyota's, they are still great vehicles.. BUT the worst thing Toyota ever did for the actual end product was build them here.

4runner, although it shares so much with Tacoma is still 100 percent Japanese and it is a better, more quallity product in the end.

    Yep..

My 2008 was great, broke everything. But nothing failed.

My 2012 I did not have long, but no issues.

My 2013, was exactly the truck I wanted but turned out to be a lemon flavored pain in my ass.

My 2015 is great so far, except junk springs I fixed and trans issues. It is exactly the truck I want, except it is a double cab and I would like the access better. But hey, kids.

My 2017 has been much better than I expected so far, no issues and I hope it stays that way. But only 3k miles so far.

To go one step further. The worst thing for Tacoma was shutting the Fremont CA plant down. F'ing fail.
