hello to all this is one of my first post bust i've been reading a lot and searched a lot for what i wanted.

the forum was a awesome educational tool and hopefully i can get more good information and advise for years to come.

anyway want to lift the truck and have a few questions.

    1. going to go with the bilstein 5100 in the front with the 883 coil (0 setting) and was wondering if i can add a spacer on top of that to acheive more lift 3.5 - 4in? i understand the diff height and cv angles but i do plan on doing a diff drop. so i figure if i ran 3.5 - 4 inches of lift in the front with a diff drop it would be like running 3 inches of lift with no diff drop. would that be a good idea? does anyone have that type of setup?

    2. for the rear i was going with the adjustable rear shackles and AAL to level whatever the front end result is. was planning on running the Bilstein 5125 long travel rear shocks with this. bilstein 5125 supposed to be for minimum 2.5 inches of lift in the rear.

anyway would this type of setup be worth it as far as suspension travel/performance is concerned, or, would no spacer and only rear shackles perform better.

would also be running aftermarket uca's (would also love some input on best ones to run with this type of setup.

    thanks in advance

Do not stack lifts, it will turn your front shocks into expensive bump stops

    thanks for the reply.

toytech website says to add top plate spacer to the 5100 and it will give fill 3 inches of lift? i'm assuming the .5 spacer is not that big of a deal.

also do the 5100 have the same suspension travel as a cheap set of coilovers? i know they sell a kit to convert the 5100's to coilovers so i'm guessing the same travel? what would be the benifit of the coilover if suspension travel is the same as the 5100's?

If you want that much of a lift, you either need to go LT or get a DB lift

1" diff drop doesn't actually move it 1". It actually doesnt help much at all but it is cheap. 2.5" is really the limit with cvs. your inner boots will be rubbing but 3" is doable. Youl be ripping the boots without high angle boots or the boot mod posted on here.

    i think i settled on

    Bilstein 5100 front and rear
    OME881 in the front
    toytech adjustable rear shackles

want to know if i need the OME exhaust bracket kit with the rear shackle? do i need diffrerent rear bumpstops with this setup?
will i need extended rear brake lines? will i need Brake Proportioning Valve/Brake Cable extension Kit?

also plan on changing all front end parts with MOOG (all ball joints and tie rods). any input on using moog or is OEM a must?

thanks again for all the help everyone

bringing this back to life because my new truck came with a stacked lift. 04 DC 4x4

fabtech dirt logic 2.5 coilovers which are supposedly same as sway-a-way (wondering idff anyone can confirm this) set at about 2.5 inches and a 1.5" spacer on top = 4" of lift!

truck has manual locking hubs so no need to worry on the road.

but the fabtech definitely completely bottoms out about 1" before the LCA contacts the bump stop.

but, according to the fabtech website "All Dirt Logic coils posses the ability to go solid without breaking, settling or bowing."
    check it out
    http://www.fabtechmotorsports.com/dirt-logic-shocks.php

Does that mean i can bottom out these dirt logic coilovers and use them as "expensive bumpstops" and not worry about them breaking?

Definitely not. Sure they might handle some abuse, but over time I'm sure they will break or at least wear out parts prematurely.

will i need extended rear brake lines? will i need Brake Proportioning Valve/Brake Cable extension Kit?

    Or this one:

    http://www.bayareametalfab.com/BPV-Bracket_p_19.html

    Or a manual proportioning valve:

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/1998-rear-brake-proportioning-valve.487581/#post-14988649

    https://www.amazon.com/Allstar-ALL4...ds=Allstar+ALL48025+Brake+Proportioning+Valve

also plan on changing all front end parts with MOOG (all ball joints and tie rods). any input on using moog or is OEM a must?

OEM is a must for ball joints - different internal parts than MOOG. Tie rod inners and outers, not so sure - haven't asked.

Noooo!!!!! The only thing designed to stop suspension travel is the bump stop.

theyre refering to the coils in that statement. they can be fully compressed without damage (you wont fully compress them on the shock)
