Until they get some miles on em, they still pull like yard switcher but they start belching and fartin when you get aggressive with the throttle. My '06 had over 196k miles on it and it was an expensive beast to kept fed, mpg dropped to less then 10 average, it would get about 12.5 on the highway, used a quart oil every 1500 - 2000 mi

    Yup.

... and after 700 Kms, I'm thinking of taking advantage of their 30 day satisfaction guarantee, and changing it for a 2016 RAM Rebel.

Expendables, they're bottom of the food chain. Kinda like going after drug syndicates, these guys are just street hustlers, there are 30 more that will move in to replace em. The investigators need to press these jokers to learn who is placing orders, shipping and distribution.

BTW, I couldn't help myself and exercised the 30 day trade in option, as I tossed the 2011 Dodge Sport, and traded for this 2016 RAM Rebel:

No mods necessary, except for a few cosmetic crap like a box liner, mat, vent visors, and a brake controller. It saves me a bundle of off road want, as it has air ride adjustable height/weight suspension, big ass 285 tires, skids and more.

    rebel wheels.jpg

It has everything (except for a shifter, it's got a fucking selector knob) and more for less than a 2017 TRD Taco. I am so fucked, as the entire truck's accessories are controlled from the centre touch screen, and I'm a techno-idiot. It also has satellite/app tracking and location, and a linked phone app which alerts if the truck has been moved so you can immobilize it if you want. I wonder why I want that?

    rebel touch.jpg

I couldn't bring myself to see another Taco in my driveway...

I am not trying to start a shit-show here, as I am not even going to start comparing apples to oranges.

Sorry, guys, but it's what I need at the moment.

@tacoma16 , can I still come and play?

With seeing this I wonder why Tacomas are so far behind in technology for a 40k+ truck... congrats on the trade! Seems like a nice truck.

Don't get me wrong, I really loved my Taco and miss it, but....

I did go see a '15 and '16 Taco, '16 Colorado and Canyon, and a couple of 4Runner's and Tundra's, and then just shook my head. I honestly believe that Toyota is starting to price themselves out of the market with the lack of technology and features they offer at that price point.

Granted, the '16 Rebel was $14k of off new at 12,000 kms., but still comes with the balance of factory warranty that is the same as Toyota's. But, fuck me, heated seats/steering/windshield/rear window/mirrors, power folding mirrors, power rear window, ride-height adjustable suspension, a really cool interior, power lumbar seats on both sides, every app available on an intuitive U-Connect touch screen, an aggressive look, off road features, and tow package minus an expensive OEM brake controller that I need to install and have re-flashed to the truck. It also has a 390 HP Hemi with eco mode and 410 foot pounds of torque that gets better or equal mileage to the 3.5L, and miles ahead of the 5.7L in the Tundra.

Someone at Toyota needs to get their shit together. They can't continue to live off of an outdated reputation for durability, considering where they are headed with their newer line ups with legacy tech, and the now inflated prices.

I really liked my 06 Ram, I was just ready for something different.
You're right about Toyota needing to sort some shit out. Problems with the 3rd gen Tacoma seem to manifest on a weekly basis. I like the Tundrua and they look aggressive when lifted but it definitely needs help with the motor, maybe a turbo diesel.

We all love our tacos! But I think we are all secretly envious of all the bells and whistle of those 1/2 ton trucks.... I personally really like a close to basic truck (less things can fail) but if I'd sit in a fully loaded truck I am scare that I would like it lol! And have to say that my buddy 2015 ram ride is so damn comfortable! I bought my truck used because it was half the price of a brand new, with 116 000km on the odo but that doesn't bother me because Toyota lol. If I was to buy brand new I would seriously consider 1/2 ton because all the reasons you mentionned. But I am the "used car kinda guy" lol and used will be Taco again, or 4Runner :D

And don't worry about driving a Ram, we don't judge you! But you have to spend more time on TW than any other ram forum lol!

My Tacoma is a Limited so it has heat seats, (thought I'd never use em, wife said you'll see, sure enough after a day at the range in Feb those heated seats are dang comfortable) JBL touch screen with XM and nav, leatherish interior (it's a 13, the new ones get the real deal)

The only thing is the limited was never really intended to be off-road, so dump the 18" wheels, add skids, replace the faux chrome, a couple things I miss from the Ram is the heated mirrors and the power rear window.

I love heated seat! And more those that have the lumbar heat too! I forgot about limited Tacomas... I don't see them very much around town. Don't want to
go too far and ask the price but was it a good deal compared to a 1/2ton?

Mine was a certified pre-owned that had been turned in off lease. It had 54k miles, it was on the lot at $28.5k got them to go $26.5k. I also got $4500 trade in for my well used 06 Dodge with +196k miles. I was gonna finance through our bank at 4.25% over 5yr. The folks at the dealership asked if they could see what they could offer, so I said, "ok, sure take a run at it"

They came back at 3.25% over 5yr, just needed to put down $2k, "OK, Sold!"
