    Did any of you guys try using a GPS to compare "real" vs. speedo. Can also use same technology to compare odometer.

    How difficult is it to regear from 3.73 to 4.10 on a 2nd gen? My mpg sucks with 33"s because most of my driving is done in rush hour traffic each week.

    looking to maybe drop a turbo kit to my 1st gen 4 banger tacoma. (2wd), i was wondering if re gearing is a good idea and if it will help performance and if there is a certain gear set up i should be looking at. my truck is also lowered.

    So does this mean since I am running 275/65/18 I am actually getting better mpg than I think? Would that also mean since I am at stock gearing, my speedo is registering "less miles" than it should be?

    Yes. If you go to tire size calculator under the mods&tutorial tab at the top you can plug in new tire and old tire size. It will tell you the difference in revolutions per mile.

    I don't think it's a good idea to regear for MPG. The savings is miniscule vs cost of gear installation.

    You can use this formula to find out speed for different tire sizes, in different gears, at different Rpms. The thing is, you have to know your transmission gear ratios and your axle ratios for it to work.

    MPH=RPM*60/trans gear ratio/axle gear ratio*tire height*pi/63360

    (RPM*60 converts minutes to hours for MPH)(Tire height*pi gives you tire circumference in inches)(63360 converts inches to miles for MPH) I'll give an example for my truck, 2 gen automatic with 285/70r17 (33) and stock gearing at 2000 RPM in 5th gear

    2000*60/0.71/3.73*33*pi/63360=74 and stock 265/65r17 (31) is 69 ish

    Running 265/65r17 and switching to 285/70r17. 2011 TRD Sport V6 automatic. Stock gears. What do I need to do to get the speedo and mileage reader to read the correct reading? I’ve heard a couple different answers. Cheapest being to redo the computer and set the computer to the tires. Or regear to 4.10 I believe? Just wondering what’s the best route or just run the way is is

    Anybody got a link best place to buy the gears ? 2nd gen went from 265 to 285 with the 3:73 and I guess I am going with the 4:11 I think that will put me back close to where I was. Thanks for any parts numbers or links.

    So I just regeared my 4.0 6spd a few weeks ago. Went from 3.73 to 4.10, running 265/65/17s. My speedo is still dead on the money, but I was expecting it to read about 10% faster than I am driving. Curious if its just using the wheel speed sensors to determine how fast I am going? Seems like if it was using the speed sensor on the trans, it would be off since the driveshaft is turning 10% faster now. Verified my speedo is correct with two different GPS apps on my phone. Anyone know whats going on here?

    How did you like the difference that the 4.10's made with the 32" tires?
    Did you have diffs built or did you swap in diffs from another truck?
    Thanks

    I didn’t think 2nd gens had a speedo in the t case. I don’t see anything in the split case in my shed.

    I don't think it's in the case. I believe there is one on the passenger side of the trans near the front (6 speed RA60F)

    I could be wrong though, just not sure..

    I gotcha, I have the r155f and gps speed is basically spot on in my truck with 4.88 (after tire correction)
