I did all I could before this the only big things I couldn't get done were mulching which takes about 20 yards and trimming the azaleas because I had to wait for them to bloom

@Fish12South Steven you oughtto get in on buying te bed bars then get in on the rtt group buy and you and the pup have an instant camp ground at the beach. Plus you still have the whole bed to use under the bars

See, the thing about a RTT that scares me is that it's a lot of money for my fat ass to fall through if I miraculously make it up that aluminum ladder.

I'm slowly working on fixing that problem. I lost 90 pounds in about 6-7 months last year, then put 40 of it back on.... But it's still going to be a long while before I'm confident enough to climb up in one of those things. Lol.

As you know I am not petite either. Idk I would think itd be perfect for what you love to do. Youd probably use it more than anyone I know. I'm willing to bet it would hold you just fine. At the least you should contact the company having the group buy and voie your concerns I bet youd be pleasantly suprised. I would not hesitate for my wife and I to sleep in one I'd bet you'd not only be fine but love it.

    Myself being
    A) one of those "not petite" people
    B) "middle aged"
    C) "not exactly graceful"
    D) "drinks a wee bit much while camping"

kinda person is the reasons we built the teardrop. We originally were going to do an RTT on a trailer but decided for those reasons above that climbing up and down a ladder in the middle of the night (while not exactly sober) would not combine well with the aforementioned lack of grace.....

I'd like it for weekend trips to the mountains where camp is a different spot every night. And in all honesty, it would be pretty great for Moab if I actually make the trip happen next year. That's another reason I'm strongly considering getting in on the Softopper group buy. Cause I'm gonna need a good amount of somewhat dry gear storage.

At the beach, 99% of the time, KOA is "home base". Roll in, set up the pop-up, and go.

Same reason I've got a pop-up. Well, it's technically my dad's pop up, I just kidnapped it. Been looking for a new one actually. This one is still very much in useable shape, but it's 30 years old (literally, it's an '87). Tows great, doesn't kill the gas mileage, and plenty of room.

Someday we will go to MOAB, but we will park the trailer at a campsite and day trip the trails. Any trails that require an overnight will get done with a backpacking tent.

Dry gear storage is why we got the cap with side doors, and the teardrop has lots I'd storage built into it.

Throw some better springs on, got some taller tires on it, and rock that pop up! As long as the canvas is good and it doesn't leak it'll last a lot longer.

I love this pop-up. But it's really starting to show it's age. Some small holes in the corners of the canvas, they could probably be patched up. But the floors are starting to get a little soft, I just had to pull the spare mount off the back because two of the screws fell out because the wood behind the aluminum apparently has rotted a bit, one corner of the roof has some wood rot in it where the canvas is attached, the A/C definitely needs to be recharged, and all these trips in the salty beach air are taking their toll on everything steel. All fixable stuff for sure. But my dad bought it in the mid 90's for like $1100 or something. Put an A/C unit on top of it, wired it in, and we used it... and I'm still using it. It's hooked to the back of my truck right now actually.

So all in all, it doesn't owe anybody a dime. I've been looking for a suitable replacement, but unfortunately, the cheap ones are far from good, and the good ones are FAR from cheap. What most people want for a used one has me looking at very lightly used, almost brand new ones at dealers. I just hate to finance something that is going to sit so much. On the other hand, I'd probably use it more than most people who buy one would. Just one of those imminent purchases that doesn't have to happen tomorrow, but will when the right deal comes along, or this thing finally kicks the bucket.

    Sure.

It will be at Old Mill Park, 2201 Caroline St, Fredericksburg, VA 22401.

If for some reason 2201 Caroline St. doesn't show up on your GPS, try 2216 Caroline St. which is a senior citizens apartment building directly across the street.

It starts at 10:00am and officially runs until 4:00pm, but in the past people usually start leaving around 2:00pm. Sometimes are group will get together an go have lunch somewhere.

I certainly hope at the very least some of you plan on coming to F'burg tomorrow and show our friend Tim some support. "come on it'll be fun! A mini meet if you will! If I can get out here with 1 arm and cean my truck and get my wife to drive me unless your working show up!
