Victor Hi-Pro Plus. Fed my dogs everything from Acana, Taste of the Wild, Merrick, and now Victor. Could no longer justify paying $75 for a 30lb bag of dog food. I have large dogs and 30lbs does not last a long time. Dogs love the taste, has great ingredients, tons of energy, maintain a good healthy physique and weight, coat looks shiny, made in the United States, and $34 for a 40lb bag.

Molly (my Black Lab) was born in December 11, 1994. We got her in January 1995, and fed her Nutro Lamb & Rice (green bag; picture below) pretty much until the day we finally put her to sleep because of severe arthritis and kidney failure (December 23, 2009). I remember this stuff costing like $40 a bag in the 1990s! My parents and I think she lived to be 15 (OLD for the typical English Lab) at least partially because we fed her that food.

Every dog's dietary needs are different, but if you have older dog (10+) of a larger breed (Black Lab in my case) you might want to think twice before feeding them IAMS from a red bag!

Whenever Nutro was unavailable for whatever reason, IAMS in the red bag was the most common substitute until we could get more Nutro. We bought other brands too, but IAMS was the most common. When Molly was older (like 10-13) I noticed that it had a negative impact on her digestive system. No matter what you've been told, everybody farts (humans or dogs, male or female). Farts are a fact of life, but this was the definition of Silent But Deadly. We're talking weapons-grade flatulence here! And she always seemed to do it when my parents weren't home and it was just the two of us. I'd either be watching TV in the family room and she'd be lying on the floor, or I'd be up in the guestroom/computer room surfing the internet and she'd be lying on the floor. Like I said, this was the definition of SBD... I'd be just minding my own business and then the whole room would stink...

It got so bad that I just went right to my mom at some point and bluntly said "Don't buy IAMS anymore because it makes Molly fart!" She never bought IAMS again...

All I remember about this type of IAMS is that it was a smaller solid red bag with no picture of a dog on it, typically sold in supermarkets and non-pet store national chains like Wal-Mart.

A few weeks ago I began switching my Lab's food from Wellness Core Large Breed to Whole Earth Farms Chicken & Turkey. $20 a bag cheaper, and he seems to like it just as well.

Have been blending the two foods, slowly lowering the amount of Wellness and increasing the amount of Whole Earth Farms. He hasn't had any problems with digestive issues.

After lots of online research, and what's available at the local pet store, I settled with Merrick IMG_7677.jpg

Switched from Zignature Kangaroo to Victor grain free salmon after hearing about it on here and reading up on it. The 30lb bag is almost $20 cheaper than the 27lb bag of Zignature and seems to be lasting longer (more than you'd think for 3lbs). Poops are darker, firmer, and less volume. Coat seems softer. Overall we're glad I switched.

Hiccup gets 4-Health. My vet, big time bird hunter recommended it.

He's pouting, made him place on the couch so I could dust mop the floor. Every time I stopped he'll rear end me and he likes to inspect the dust/dirt pile

Baloo is getting Blue Grain Free Chicken for puppies dry food along with some Blue Home-style Recipe Chicken Dinner for Puppy canned. We are also supplementing a little Authority pumpkin puree to get his digestion use to the new food. We also add very little tuna or chicken just to get him started. He was a little younger at 7 weeks when we got him than the sellers told us so I think he was just starting on dry food.

His poop is now hardening after a week of fun times.

Buffy gets Kirkland Signature Salmon and sweet potato. She is spoiled so wont eat dry unless she gets chicken, beef, salmon or some form of fresh meat added.
