Guys I just put the OME shocks and coil springs on the 2001 4dr Tacoma for my son. We also went with Dakar new leafs on the back. I thought the kit I purchased from Wheelers would level up the front but it still sits 2" lower. He drove it for a couple of months and for his birthday he ask that I level up the front end. I'm thinking of getting the 2" level kit from Ready lift that install on top of the coils. Does this sound about what I need to be doing? Any reason I should not be trying to level up the front end or that I should do by leveling up the front end. Thanks Rick

Which OME springs did you guys install up front? Depending on which springs you used you can possibly add a 1/4" top place spacer to give about another 1/2" lift up front.

I would highly advise against stacking lifts up front as you will lose almost all of your down travel. If anything, you can remove some of the leafs from the dakars. You can remove the upper overload leaf to lower the rear about 1/2" and if you need it to be lower to level it you can also remove the 3 leaf from the top as well.

Its was the OME shocks and the 880 coils.

I would honestly switch out the front coils with 882's. With the D-cab's weight plus being a 4wd, the 880's are probably giving you minimal lift. The 882's will give you more of the stance you're looking for.

I don't know if they still available, but there is another member on here selling a set for pretty cheap if you're interested in those: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/old-man-emu-882.484616/

You man even find someone in the For Sale section that may want to trade you.

100% admit I don't have a clue as to what down travel means. Can you be a little more specific when you say you would not stack lifts. I would rather lift the front than to take leafs out of the back.

Basically when your truck is at stock ride height the front wheels can move about 4" up and 4" down. That's the wheels travel the more it's lifted on the front the further the wheels are already moved down. Aftermarket suspensions are designed to still allow for more dowtravel than a spacer would. Spacers are designed to work with the stock suspension. Thus is why it would be better just just simply get different OME springs for added front lift. Like I mentioned already, 882 would be your best bet having a Dcab 4wd

Ok I understand. So if I measure from the pinch point on the rear to ground I have 19" clearance. At the front I have 20 7/8". So there is a difference 17/8". If I understand you correctly the 882's will give me about another inch of lift. Should I also order a 1/2" EMU enhanser kit which would give me 11/2 and that is close enough. Also if I am correct in the above would I need the diff drop or will I still be OK? Thanks Rick

I have the 10mm "lift enhancers" that I took off because my front was too high. I've also contemplated switching to 880s due to the front being stiff and still kind of high for me (881s, no rake which I don't like).

Unfortunately it's my only non-sunny day vehicle so swapping would be hard without someone being closer :(

Just talked with Wheelers that gave me a couple of options. I can go with 881's that will give me 3/4' more lift and take out the third leaf on the Dakar which will drop about 3/4". This will get me real close and not sacrifice as much of the ride. It is really what boostedka talked about and I appreciate his advice. Yes frizzman I understand and my son drives his everyday also. I will more than likely go with the 881's and sell the 880 when this is all done. Thanks RIck

keep in mind the Dakars will settle a little if you put some weight in the back. I have the cap on almost all the time, and I usually carry another 50 lbs of junk in the bed too. :p
