That's way cheaper than one conversation with @seoulja99 costs me. I also got a set of RokBlokz on the group buy, so they're just here. Good looks for those that don't know!

Does it apply to the stock trucks that don't come with mudflaps, too?

Also, give me a holler! Still have that sticker for you! LOL!

I thought I read in the recon rules that if your truck didn't come with them / you're stock height, you don't need them (because how could you buy a vehicle that would fail a safety out the gate..).

Spanner wrenches. Plural. Best beer bottle opener I have. Better than the wine key @Vanguard had

This was my thought as my 17 offroad didn't come with any. But I put about 2.5 in lift and now I'm thinking they gonna say I need them cause I lifted it. Kind stupid if you ask me. The bumper still extends far enough to protect from splatter.

If you want to get an out of state permit for registration and go to get the safety check, you still need to have recon done before getting the safety check done if you have a small lift (2"). Is this right? Just trying to figure out if maintaining out of state license is any easier than jumping through hoops with recon, or if it's unavoidable either way. Thanks!

Safety is mandatory, and you'll be hard pressed to find a place that will pass a modified suspension without a recon permit. I'm running out of state tags on my truck, and it's about the same cost, but I don't have to drill a front plate now.

Thanks...that explains it. Got to do it either way then. Cop pulled me over for having a bike rack that obstructed my plate. Then gave me a ticket for not having safety check and then not registering within 30 days of arriving on island. (3 tickets x $70) Looks like either way, the state is going to make you go through the bureaucracy and get some extra cash from you. Just trying to figure out the fast way of fixing it.

Thanks for the info. So if I go stock height, but 0mm offset wheels, it may push the edge of tire outside of fenders. Do I just need to cover them with either flaps or flares? Since not mod'ing the suspension, I assume this is just a safety check issue or not recon??

You’ll need recon. You should be fine at 0 offset, depending on your flares (if you don’t have any, it may be an issue).

They don't care about your wheel and tires, although you will have to list it. The flares are what need the recon. Even if the suspension is stock.

Best thing to do is call the station and ask them directly. And even then, it may be inconsistent. It's the nature of subjective interpretation and the eye/mood of the inspector(s).

If you aren't changing your suspension, my understanding is that you still need to go through Recon if you change your OEM wheels/tires more than 1" in overall diameter. But, again, best thing to do for the most current info is call the Recon station.

Pretty sure the guide has comments in there about offset as well, but that has to do with fender flare / wheel coverage.

Basically, if you touch your wheels and/or suspension, you’re going to have a hard time getting your safety inspection completed without a recon inspection first. If the tires fit under the flares, no worries for recon. If not, time to get some garden trimming
