    Hi everyone.
Last Friday, they changed my winter tires to summer All Terrain BG Goodrich tires.
With oil change, total cost 135.54. They told me that the young guy could not calibrate the air pressure,so the light was still on.Next day i went back, they told me to come back again cause still on that day no mechanic was competent to do the job.
    Went back last Monday morning.
Then they called me,we need to change your tire sencors, cause they are deffected, bla bla bla
So they told me another 111 plus taxes,so i told them, yes ,i dont want that light on and want to know when a tire is leaking or something. So another $ 126.14
I drove my truck home, and seems ok.Last night i went out ,not far away from home ,Man that dam light started flashing when i started my Tacoma, and is now on.
Returning to my Dealer this morning,,not very happy, and not impress!
This was done as usual at my Toyota home town dealer...
Any idea ,what is going on.Since Monday,i hardly put 10 kilometers on the truck..
Will let you know tonight what they did,if they can fixe it...
    Regards
    Charly

From what I was informed in the past is that the tire sensor is built into the valve stems that come with our trucks. I have an 07' Tacoma as well. So each time I change to a new set of tires, they re-use the same valve stems that came with the truck. They are pretty darn durable and I have not had one go defective. It only takes one tire to be lower than the other 4 tires to get that tire light to come on. By lower I mean usually at least 5-10lbs lower air pressure. AND by saying the other 4 tires, I'm including the SPARE tire. The mechanics at the Toyota dealerships usually don't check the air pressure of the spare tire on our trucks because it's kind of a pain to get to. Most of the time you have to lower the spare tire down to get to the valve to put air into it. My tire light has gone on several times over the years of ownership, and almost always it is because I need to add air to my spare tire. Each time this happens, I have to put together that wrench that came with the truck and lower the spare tire down, put air in the tire, and then wrench the tire back up into place, so it is kind of a pain!

My gut feeling is they never checked the air in your spare tire to bring the air pressure in-line with the 4 new tires you just had put on. The only other thing that could have happened was the mechanic, who installed your new tires, damaged at least one of your valves. I'm pretty sure you did NOT need 4 new valves....
