Yup. Surprisingly, the Deck Plate mod gave 5+ hp to the tires

I got my shell installed yesterday! A SnugTop HiLiner with upgraded windows (larger, with sliding removable mesh), and laid down a rubber mat today. I'm loving it! I think I'll be sleeping in it tomorrow night. Next comes a rubber mat for the tailgate. :) Gonna turn Thumper into an amazing camper!

I wish my shell had the highrise. The extra couple inches on top would help a lot camping in the back! Looks good

I used to have that rubber mat in mine along with the tailgate mat. It definitely kept the areas that it covered looking nice.

Yeah it will be perfect! I initially wanted carpeting since it would be much more cozy, but I value my mental health more...I have a dog and plan to spend a lot of time in the PNW (read: mud). I'd go insane trying to keep the carpet clean and looking nice.

Thank you! I'm excited to finish the build! It helps that I'm really short. Thumper will make a great little home on the road.

Are you going to add a sleeping platform to the back or just thermarest/blanket it?

I'm currently thinking to build a plywood platform, maybe 24 inches wide and around 60 inches long, that will sit right above the wheel well. That way I'll be able to sit up in bed and have some floor space to move around better, along with storage underneath. An Orca 20 qt cooler will sit in front of the bed up by the tailgate.

    Oh nice! That'll be great.

Here is my platform. Got storage on the sides and the middle comes up to the rails to be able to sleep across the whole thing

I'm picturing something similar to this. Looks so dreamy.

Love it. Has so much space for random stuff and pretty roomyish until when the wifeytobe camps with me. But we are both small so it works well. And yeah super easy to clean. It's just cheap outdoor homedepot carpet so cleans great.

I would love that setup! If I had a fullsize/highrise camper/only one person sleeping in it. Would love more open space like that one has. But I ordered one of these so I can have more room for stuff and changing

Nice! Good thing it's low maintenance. Looks so cozy.

Whoa, that is sweet! What is that product called, where did you get it?
I was thinking to do a simple tarp set up, or maybe mount an ARB awning eventually. But that tent like attachment looks pretty awesome. The extra protection would be nice to have.

Yeah I hope the proposed set up works out well, it's a little more complicated since I have a big dog. I'll give him lots of blankets and I think he should have enough room on the floor, but I'm also thinking of making a slide out platform extension, covered in carpet, that I can make up for him so he can join me on really cold nights. I know he would enjoy that a lot. I won't be building the platform super soon so I'll be sleeping bagging it for awhile, will test the waters with him and see how much space he really needs...

It's called an ArcHaus Shelter. Kinda pricey but for how much I want to get out/how much I do I thought the price was worth it. I got it from etrailer.com chepeast I could find). It's pretty cool, you buy the shelter and it comes with two doors and one tailgate attachment, then you can buy an insert that has mesh and a floor so you can turn it into a tent with the two doors that comes with it. So can use it at the lake with no floor because of sand, tailgating, shooting, or camping even without my truck.

That sounds like a plan! Luckly the wifeytobe only has a little spaniel mix so it's easy to configure ourselves in a small space

My shell leaks from all four corners and a couple of spots on the side. Having carpet back there would be a recipe for disaster. Hell even having moisture trapped under that rubber bed mat would be no bueno.
