I want to upgrade the wiring to the alternator and starter on my '03 3.4 Tacoma. There is or was a member named "Bama" that sold the Stage 1 Wiring Upgrade kit. I emailed him a couple of months ago, but never received a response so he may not be selling them anymore.

Does anyone know the length needed for the following replacements:
    1. Starter to Battery
    2. Alternator to Battery
Probably going to be using 4 gauge welding cable.

    Great write-ups on this.

Definitely go with the welding cable. It's easier to route and far more pliable than the normal 4G wire.

I always use 1/0 welding cable for the Positive and Negative

#4 for the B terminal to fuse block

I work in car audio myself and done enough of these.

there's 2 types of wire out there and what you're looking for is OFC (Oxygen Free Copper) or CCA (Copper Clad Aluminum). OFC will have the better current draw results and will stay cooler than CCA.

4 ga wire is good for a starter if you want to beef up some current issues
0 ga wire is the best

As for setup goes, use which you think will be better for furture projects or just go 0 ga. There is another part of this buddy of mine found is that we try to do a big 4 upgrade. The extra wire is grounding the alternator to the battery. The guy says that it will produce better results than just a big 3 upgrades due to the alternator getting grounded at the battery and not through the engine block.

If your going to ground the Alternator to the battery may as well do the starter as well .

make a ground bus coming off the negative battery terminal

I use the 1/0 because I get short pieces for free so the only cost is the lugs
