I do alotta camping and fishing, so I drive alotta forest and service roads. This is what I carry.

In the bed -

I don't off road. I carry - in addition to the stock jack set:

X tire tool (your lugs or those of a stranger with a flat were likely overtightened by some shop)

I use a glock e-tool. Mostly used for shoveling snow if I get carried away, or when I have to take a dump. It folds up and has a telescoping handle with a saw blade in it. Good luck sawing anything with it though, and it fits behind or under the back seats nicely.

Just make sure the handle is long enough to make it semi comfortable when using it.

 

been looking into the air compressor under the hood lately. Seems pretty badass! pics of yours? where did you get the compressor?

 

On sand I always carry a longer shovel in the 4 foot range.
Also do to having a winch I carry an earth anchor.

Next I did not see people talk about is blue and silver poly tarps in 4x8 or 5x10 then one large enough to cover the truck if needed in a sand storm.

Also carry sections as long as the bed of 2x12 boards or 3/4 ply cut in sections 12"x 6'or 8'.
Rubber backed indoor or outdoor carpet work great for traction in powder sand.
Tarps work for cover in hot sun if needed or matt to lay on turning a wrench. Even for making sand bags or catch fluid in a roll over.

 

Now here's a compressor. Oh yeah, it comes with a winch.

I had a Quick air 2. Not mounted anymore, it lives in an ammo can in my trailer as backup.

Went to co2. Power tanks. Great for running air tools and seating a bead.
Can run 150 psi for tools, can also fill two tires at a time fast. Under 1 min from 10 psi to 35. Works for the tow rig also and it is 80 psi.
Keep a 5 pound tank in daily drivers and two 15 lb tanks for off road rig then a 20 is hard mounted on trailer.

The 12 v or motor mount systems always need to have the motor running. If you try to help others on trails it is hard to get next to them sometimes.

Also for a few extras that really work.

Had them about 20 years and they are great.

 

I'm really disappointed that no one has listed koozies yet... How the hell are you gonna keep your beer cold when you get to wherever you've stuck/stranded at?

I also keep an emergency flask of whiskey in my truck. Nothing worse than getting to the end of a 4wheel trail or up to a camp site and realizing I forgot to bring whiskey.

Edit: Oh and in addition to all the things everyone else has listed, I keep spare fuses and bulbs as well.

 

How slow are you drinking your beers that you need to koozie for them?

It's nothin fancy. Just a little modified MV50. I'm in the process or sorting out a little tank for it still.
