If it's any consolation.....I've been hesitant to ask that question for the last 12 hrs and 9 mins.

*I* would have grabbed my charger and extension cord and put that dead battery on an overnight 8 amp charge. But what do I know, I'm just a 60 yr old computer hack.

2nd gen terminals cover the positive and negative symbols. Wife just bought her tacoma. Neighbor kid asks for jump. They can't figure out red/black so kid grabs them and just hooks up. Starts his car and leaves. It was 50/50 chance he could have fried her truck. We got lucky.

I then proceeded to show her the symbols and that black/ground will connect to chassis and you can figure it out that way.

So there's not a gigantic, red, rubber cover over the positive terminal? Or they were just confused what red/black meant?

I've been known to get some 3" wide red plastic tape and put a couple turns around the + cable if its a black cable.

You can also get something like "Battery Terminal Anti Corrosion Washer - Green And Red". Before somebody flames; green is as close to a universal "ground" color you are going to get.

Yeah not only is our standard measuring dumb so is a American electrical color coding. Wish it was more standardised.

yeah, in RV land, black is +, white is ground. WTF? Ditto in 120VAC wiring, black is 'hot', and white is 'neutral'.

AAA is being very cooperative. I can't say otherwise. However, they do seem to be pushing me towards the shop who caused the problem in the first place. That bothers me.
I wonder if they're doing this because Toyota might not want to install used or refurbished parts? I'm still going over this in my mind before I make a decision. I'd prefer Toyota do the job, but I wonder if AAA knows used parts might be an issue with Toyota?

    :rofl::rofl::rofl:

Not all EU countries are allowed to use EU currency.

As you point out, the electrical can vary wildly in receptical configuration, voltage and hertz.

But it is nice to go from country to country with less effort re/passport/customs and only have one type currency in countries with the financial wherewithal to play at their party.

Reread line one of post 32.

That's the reason. I promise. Ok, I won't promise. But I'll bet you a burger and a Coke. Not that they'll ever admit that of course.

    It's always about the benjamins.

I'd rather bet an artisan style, but BK will do, in the name of frugality! :D

I'll tell you. It's damn hard to find someone that can pass a drug test,no felony conviction ,and a clean cdl.also some shops dont care.it's bodies in trucks.cause contrary to popular belief, 3a pays shit.plan and simple. You make money in volume of calls.but that's just my opinion.

Tell them you want it fixed at a Toyota Dealership, they ruined it,and they will have too pay too fix it ,since its a Toyota truck you want it fixed by a Toyota dealer with a new part, not some junk from a junkyard, end of story.
