    It's a fine line.

    Too fast and you loose all your boost every time you let off the accelerator.

    Too slow and you'll have compressor flutter.

    i have an eastwood 250 mig we got for farm equipment and I have done everything from body work (a little nothing crazy just a patch in the rear) on a 62 f100, to welding a jack on a spreader trailer (like 1/2" steel on the trailer). that welder is prolly way over kill for what you are looking for but I think they are running it like $700 right now free shipping. they also have a 175 right now with a free Al spool gun for like $500 ish I think, the big difference between the 2 is the 250 has a 60% duty cycle at 250 amps and the 175 has a 30% at 135 amps, but the latter is most likely still enough for garage work
