i dropped my Tacoma for service and they gave me a tundra for few days! and honestly there is nothing not to like about the tundra if any too much power "got to be careful not to get jerked out my seat a few times", too much space "its just too wide dont see what i would ever need that much room" it was very comfortable on a long highway drive but i much rather driving my tacoma daily around town. overall i am happy i went with the tacoma instead

I'm on the fence about trading to a full sized. Anyone with experience with F150 vs Tundra?

    I own both.

Tundra has awesome power, but sucks in the trails! Wins for towing prowess. On the highway, the mpg is within 3-mpg at 80 mph with the Tacoma, but can go further between fill up a because of bigger tank.

I use my Tacoma for 90 percent of driving. It is easy to park and I don't need a full sized bed that often.

I love them both for different reasons.

hi i actually have a 2014 tacoma and my wife had the same year too and we traded hers for a 2016 tundra. we pull a 5100 trailer with it to go camping and the tacoma did awesome even going up hills but we needed a little more comfort so we got the tundra. although i love the tundra and the power the gas tank shows its true meaning lets blow some cash to drive around town. i drive my tacoma to work work 98miles per day and it runs awesome. id say if your going for comfort get the tundra but as an every day driver get a tacoma. i have nothad ne issues with either one and my tacoma is a 2014 with 92k on it. its fun to drive and fun to fill up with scoops of dirt, but its my own type of work horse..

I've been looking at new trucks for the last few months and I'm on the fence, Tacoma or Tundra? I currently have an 08 Dbl cab 4x4 Taco with about 2" lift 191k miles and get between 16 and 17 mpg. It doesn't matter how I drive it, highway, back roads, city. I can poke around or be more aggressive and it's always about the same. I commute 50 miles to work about half highway and 2 lane curvy roads. From what I've read the Tundra will not be that much different as far as fuel economy goes as long as I drive conservatively. The price range isn't that much different either. A local dealership is offering 1k off Tacos and 2k off Tundra until the 5th of July. What's really getting me is this. I'm not 100% confident in the 3rd Gen Tacomas drive train. Getting alot of mixed reviews and the Tundra is tried and true. If Toyota was still offering the 4.0 and same tranny in the Tacoma I would have already made my choice. I'm not the type of guy who trades very often and this decision is really weighing on my mind. I'm going to truck shopping sometime in the next few days and any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

First Toyota we owned was a 1987 2.4L 2WD Toyota Pickup, really liked that truck, had 5 people in line to buy it when we sold it.

We currently own a 2003 2.4L 2WD Tacoma 5 speed manual and 2016 5.7L 4X4 Tundra 4 door. Use the Tacoma for light towing and local driving. Use the Tundra for long trips and towing a 5,000 pound travel trailer. When we sell our 03 Tacoma, plan to buy a new V-6 Tacoma. Have not done much off pavement driving with either, but really like Toyota pickups!

I traded the Taco for a Tundra Monday. Miss the ol girl but it was time for a full size truck. I'll look back and remember the good times we had. I have alot of time and memories tied up in my tacoma, all good. I look forward to the Tundra experience.

I'm not in the predicament of having to decide between the two. I plan to keep my Tacoma and buy a Tundra in a year or so.

I think of it like weapons. A pistol won't suit all roles so go buy a rifle and have both.

I just sold my 09 Tacoma for a 17 Tundra Crewmax. I'll take the Tundra any day now. The room is the big difference.

    Get a Tundra!!!! Please!!!

I bought a Tacoma new in 2015, DCSB TRD Off-road 4x4, everything I thought I wanted... It was a massive frustration from the start.
    • I had the kazoo sound from crappy weatherstripping starting two days after I bought the truck on a road trip
    • Had pretty bad driveline shutter, that no amount of tweaking could fix
    • Rear leaf springs wore out (it was riding on the overload springs when empty) at just over a year old! I carried 200lb in bed consistently.
    • I'm 6' 3" and I underestimated how incredibly uncomfortable it was to drive after even 30min in truck.
    • Other minor annoyances that stacked up (wipers wouldn't stop at bottom when turned off periodically, brakes were a pain in the butt to modulate,...)
    • Started having to tow more
I hated that truck. They're a really crappy excuse for a truck. If I were still in my intense off-roading days, I probably would have loved it.

Sold it and bought a used 2016 Tundra crewmax 4x4, leather with 13k miles on it for $6k more than what I sold the Tacoma for (Tacoma had 40k on it) I average about 2.5mpg less in the 5.7 than I did in the 4.0. Doesn't even seem like the same company manufactured the two vehicles. Only thing I gave up was off-road prowess. Wife hated the Tacoma and loves the Tundra as well.

Get the Tacoma if you're going to be trail and rock climbing hard (not mudding) otherwise get the Tundra.

Well I have a 14 Tundra that has been great. I also have a 16 GMC HD Duramax that I use for hauling my trailers. As much as I love my Tundra I can’t justify having 2 full size trucks so I was thinking of getting a Tacoma for my dailey driver. I average about 70k per year and 40-50 of that is not hauling a trailer. I took a 17 Tacoma with the 3.5 and was really surprised by how underpowered it seems. Also was disappointed with the head room (equipped with sunroof). Maybe I’m just use to how the Tundra feels, so much power on hand, extremely comfortable. My gut tells me to get another Tundra but my wallet says to get a Tacoma.
