Not sure if this has been covered here or not, but I made a hoist that removes my CVT tent while attached to my RCI bed rack. I like to use my truck as a truck and when the rack and tent are on, my use is limited.

i like that. because mine is cab-high, I can't get it into my garage without taking it off the truck first. I've got mountain bikes in my topper, so I'm restrained. Nice job. endless good ideas here.

This is awesome. I have a local company with a quote for 528 bucks for a manual hoist for the same 2 items. Do you have a write up or pics of the hoist itself? If you don't mind, how much did it cost?

$528 bucks ain't bad. It took me about $350 in parts and about 15 hours to build. I was contemplating a write up but I'm horrible at that and lack the patience. I'll take a bunch of photos and post them when I get some time.

Hey guys, going to be purchasing my first RRT in a few weeks and needed y'all's opinion.

    Which one?

    1. Tepui Kukemon Sky
    2. CVT Mt. Shasta Stargazer
    3. Freespirit Medium Canopy
    4. Yakima Skyrise Medium

They all have Pros and Cons but this is a long term investment and you guys are pros. Thanks!

I vote Kukenam Sky! Honestly though, any of the first 3 will be great. I think Tepui makes great product and has great customer service.

Thanks Mitch, the Kukemon is the one I'm leaning towards too but just wanted people's two cents. Poor Yakima's, community has been riding the owners hard. Looks like a great tent but definitely thinner material than everything else out there.

I really like the GOFSR Adventure Series but unfortunately its too long and over laps my 6" bed or else I was gonna get that!

Oh, the cool thing about the Yakima's is the locking mechanism it has. How do you guys keep thieves fro taking the tent when away?

It's not a quick process to unbolt and move a 120lb tent. There's also security nuts available, like these from CVT. Same idea as locking lug nuts.

I was thinking of the first 2 on your list and went with the CVT Mt Shasta Extended Summit. The biggest reason for this is the "extended" part providing cover over the ladder and the included annex part.

There was also a cool setup someone had on this thread using some sort of "q" shaped bolt/screw in place of the standard bolts, and then they ran a lock between the two "q" screws. Wish I could find the setup, its how I'll be locking mine on.

I like that idea a lot, need to keep that in mind. I'm would like the elevated bed racks for the RTT's but I think I'm going to settle on Voodoo's new RTT crossbars that is being sold in the Buy/Sell thread. It looks good and gives me a couple of inches above the bed liner.

I am excited about getting my first RTT, you guys make it look so cush camping that I am going to finally pull the trigger on getting one. Man...that adventure series from GoFSR is damn sweet...still trying to figure out how to make that work! lol

This thread hurts my OCD to flip through seeing the angles of some people's ladders. They're not intended to be at 45 degree angles...

Thanks for the vid. I plan to do something similiar. Can you take some photos of how you attached it to the ceiling if your garage? Harbor Freight has em for stupid cheap but "ya get what ya pay for" applies and not sure how much I want to spend on a hoist. Thanks again
