We bayed up this douche bag bear for a couple hours yesterday. The hunter shot him at about 300 yards, hit him really high. After the shot the bear rolled probably 50 yards down the mountain, got up and ran another mile before going into a hole where we could get the hunter another shot.

We had 15 dogs on him and he still didn't go up a tree.

 

So what makes a bear a douche bag?

 

More often than not the bear just goes straight up a tree.

 

So he ran instead?

 

Right

 

If you ran, he'd probably think you were a douche bag too

 

Ok. Let me see if I get this straight...

Dogs go after bear. Bear does bear shit and is smart enough to run in an attempt to survive. Hunter has to work harder to kill bear, which makes for a more gratifying hunt. Hunter is successful. Bear is killed. Bear is douchebag.

It's not worth trying to explain to you.

 

I do a fair amount of hunting and I dont understand what would make a bear a douche bag....granted I have never hunted bear, but I would be interested to learn the douchebaggery behavior for it to earn that title

 

So much to say and my filter seems to be working overtime here. Where was that hunt?

 

A lot of the time the bears just go straight up a tree. Sometimes, this time, you find a bear that has little man syndrome and doesn't climb a tree and just runs.


For me, I'd rather not kill the bear, it's about the dogs doing their thing.

But harvesting the animal is just part of it sometimes.

Comes down to different types of hunting for different types of people.

 

UHHHHH..................... The hunter made a shit shot at 300 yards but the bear is a douche? Why is your hunter taking a 300 yard shot when you are running dogs? Let me guess, he's out of shape and you told him "All you have to do is walk up to the tree and shoot the bear! I got the best dogs around, never lose a bear!" It's called HUNTING, not shooting! This is like calling a buck a douche bag because he jumped my string when I shot!

 

The hunter took the shot because he said he felt confident. It's not like the bear was running full speed, basically just walking.

If he wouldn't have taken the shot he might not have gotta another chance.

 

That's not what he's getting at. How is the bear a douche bag? The bear is a bear and did bear shit. Now, if the bear came over to your house, drank all your beer and banged your girlfriend, then yeah. The bear is a douche bag.
