Nice looking rig. How much did you buy that camper for?

With a show price and me getting a few extras it was 14,342.00 out the door. at camper world. It is a Jaco SLX175RD I like that it puts the dining room at the rear of the trailer this folds down into a second bed The Taco tows it great on the plains, it is a little challenging taking it to the passes of Colorado. I do use a anti sway and break controller.

Im loving these campers. In Alaska they cost a fortune so I have to live vicariously through other people and their sweet rigs.

    How challenging?
I am looking at smaller campers about that size & weight (including that one) and plan to spend a lot of time out West.

I've generally seen that 5000 # is max towing for plains & from what I can figure based on comments 4000 # would be max want to tow through mountains... I have basic 15 Taco w/tow pkg & 6 cyl engine.

Don't mind some reasonable truck strain on mountains, just don't want to overdo or be unsafe.

    Thanks

Keep in mind that I am not afraid to push my truck its a TOYOTA , I will be in forth and in the High RPM range when I go up hill and at times will shift down to make the truck stay in the high rpm range, if I don't pay attention I will slow by about 15 mph up hill. On the way down I try not to break at all I will down shift and let the motor and gears hold the trailer back as much as possible. The break controller helps a bunch when I need it. I use the prodigy 2 controller with a curt sway control. I wouldn't tow if it was a safety issue. I am one of those people that pull over if traffic backs up behind me.

    Thanks much.
I agree Toyota's are made to last. My Tacoma is my first non-Corolla in 25 years--some new, some used--all ended up with high mileage. And more than one neighbor has changed to Toyota's after seeing how good.

I've tried to be open minded to other brands when I hear my friends & neighbors tell me how much they like their Ford, GM, Jeep, even Honda... then I hear them tell me about this repair or that shop visit, often when still less than 50k miles.

Gotten a lot of good ideas for trailers, hitches, etc. from here... generally thinking (for me) 2500-3500 dry, with up to 1000# water, food & other, 7-7.5' wide.

Again, Thanks to all for the great info.
