I have a 2000 Tacoma. Drove fine. Next day nothing. It was dead. Cleaned and tighten battery cables. Now the alarms come on when you open the door. I cleared the alarms but nothing happened when I turn the key to start but the alarm comes on again. Pulled the battery and took it and had it tested it is good. Don't know where to go next.

Factory or aftermarket alarm? Try using key to unlock and lock driver side door 3 times.should clear it. If not now the fun. There should be a switch somewhere. Push in while turning key.might be under dash or on kicker panel.might also be the Lil light on dash push it and turn key

There's another way, but it's risky.

If it's a manual, you could try bump starting it. I've had to do that a couple times in my old '88 nissan.

It is a factor alarm. Push button is on the dash. Unlocking door three times. Did not work. Pushing the button and turning the key did not work. Pushing the button six times did not work. ??

sounds like an immbolizer set up. disconnecting the battery long enough to reset the ECU will activate the system.

You'll be able to put the key in turn on all electrical systems lights, radio etc but when you turn the key you get nothing.

terminals are tight, clean? shouldnt have a immobilizer. least my year doesnt. no aftermarket alarm, theres no alarm horn under the hood right? something isnt right, tap starter while someone turns the key.and if its a auto trans try starting in neutral.

@Gunner1488 solving technically issues online is hard behind a keyboard so you gots give us as much info as possible.

    0) use the search tool and look for existing thread relating to your own problem

    1) did you do anything to the truck between the driving fine and starting issue?

    2) are you the original owner? How new is the truck to you? (Cuz sometimes previous owners leave little surprises:annoyed:)

    3) issue in detail, you put the key in and exactly what happens? Lights work but no crank or turns over and dies

4)are you getting any codes ?

    5) if your not sure if you have an aftermarket part/component post a pic.

The better the detail the quicker the answer.
