I think tire size may contribute a lot in MPG when considering tires...
that being said I have 255 85 16 KM2s on my factory toyota off road wheels and get just as good mileage as the next guy i believe, I also drive it like a grandpa and its manual, all that playing a role..

I did just under 9k miles cross country in 14 days on these tires and never a hiccup

I like my Cooper Discoverer ATPs. They do well on wet roads, off-road and have a 55k mi warranty. They are an all-terrain tire and a good price.

I am looking for the same kind of thing. The Toyo dealer here recommends the All Terrain C/T's, says all of the Logging Companies use them on their pickups as well as the Hydro (Electric Company) use them on their service vehicles. These guys are in the woods and steep logging roads all the time and have long highway commutes in the same day. Apparently these are the only tires they can trust.
I am just wondering if they might be a little much on my 2.7 Tacoma 5 speed. I plan on using 265/70/17 tires.
