@uhplifted chime in when you have some time! I know the winds were pretty crazy yesterday.

Driven mine from Nc to CO and back. Through high wind and heavy rain. Never tore anything up. Didn't have any rain come in

I can assure you i didn't install it incorrectly. 100 mph gusts driving up to the sierras while driving 70mph. It took it clean the fuck off. Luckily my only damage was to the rails that are bent. Going to try to fix when I'm home next week.

    Back to fishing. Have fun.

Just got back to camp to see the damage in the light. For anyone who doesn't believe I installed this correctly, Here's what the bolts look like... in case you can't tell, it's bent as fuck. 3 of the 4 look like this.

The 16's have different clamps? I figured they would be the same.

These are the Bestop clamps, not the actual softtopper brand. I know the two are different styles and I think the softopper ones are better from what others have said

Wow that's some unbelievable power. Mother nature can be a bitch sometimes. I'm getting another set of clamps for sure

I recommend it highly. I don't think I'll be able to fix my rails so I'll have to order new rails and will probably order two sets. Add an extra clamp on each side and then add two clamps on the Velcro

I know 2nd gens have the rail up near the cab as opposed to the 3rd gens but what I did for extra security is get a piece of aluminum flat that spans the front bed rail and 3 small clamps from Home Depot and after velcroing down the window by the cab just lay the aluminum flat down over the little flap and clamp that shit down real good against the velcro. And 3rd gens can add the extra bed rail up near the cab like 2nd gens by my understanding. It makes for a good extra security point. I've taken my truck up to 95+ w/ the Bestop (albeit maybe not gusting winds anywhere over 25mph) and have never had the slightest issue. I also clamped the side rails down as tight as possible but just prior to the bolts starting to deform.

Ya after this incident I'm considering ordering the 3rd rail for the cab side in the bed and doing something similar as well. I called Bestop and it sounds like I'll get everything damaged replaced under warranty. I'll find out shortly.

    Nothing yet...
I was debating buying a bestop soft topper... but it looks like they can't be folded down with the windows still attached. Is that the case? Can the softopper be folded down with the windows attached?

Anyone know where to purchase the front Velcro strip that attaches to the front rail? A hardware store??

To my knowledge softopper doesn't have windows other than the back one. So yes.
Bestop also cannot be broken down without taking the windows off.
