Oh no problem, I saw you had it figured out. There were a couple doubters above though. Figured I'd elaborate a bit and give a citation.

    Try this...

road load power = av + bv² + cv³

Pjensen I didn't read your post closely enough, I didn't see that you were referencing only the power to overcome wind drag.

Here is a graph from cleanmpg.com, they have done a lot of mpg/mph tests of many vehicles. Here is a new Ram. I asked if they had any opportunity for Tacoma or Tundra and they are hoping to line something up. If they do they can do a front air dam on/off test too.

    That's too many v's.
    should be = A + Bv + Cv²
First term is primarily rolling resistance (constant)
Second is primarily friction of powertrain components (linear increase)
Third is primarily aerodynamic drag (increases by square of v)

I suspect there aren't many in this forum that remember the oil embargo days in the 70's when the federal government lowered the national speed limit to 55MPH.
    Bingo.

I drive a lot for work on backroads going ,55-60mph and hit the sweet spot for sure. Very impressed with the MPGs.

Manually doing the math adds up as well. Overall I average about 23-24 though on those weeks I'm driving those roads consistently. On weeks I add in regular highway and city driving I'm around 22-23 average.

Yes I do, and I referenced it in my earlier post.
Kids nowadays, they just don't know how good they got it. Soft I tell ya, they are all soft.

I'm not old enough to remember it, but certainly know if it. Pretty sure it was why my '84 SVO Mustang had speedometer tick marks to 140 mph, but the numbers stopped at 85.

In automotive terms, these are the good times.

I've noticed higher RPMs on cruise control
