Question, I have the regular OEM stereo/screen with the push buttons on the sides in my 2017 TRD Sport due to dealership here in Guam telling me that they don't get the Nav versions here.. has anyone upgraded their regular OEM stereo to the full touch with Nav and how hard or easy was the process? Im looking to install the upgraded touch/nav in my truck now since I will be taking it back stateside in a couple years

I'm in the process of doing it now.

I have the Entune 6in with Physical buttons and the Scout Navigation through the phone. I purchased a Entune Headunit with the 7in screen and navigation, it sticks out slightly due to being a little larger then the 6in Entune. From my understanding it is plug and play, but the only thing you will need a new trim for it will look OEM. I believe there are other methods to get it to fix correctly but I think this is the cleanest way. The trim cost around $200 though which is steep.

    Part number here:55405-04130-C6

Also here's a video to remove the Headunit:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=47sf5G8ZsnI

EDIT: I do have a SR5 just to be clear. I do not know if any of this information is accurate, but I have done a lot of research and will be getting the head unit tomorrow to plug it in and test it out.

screws all match up, etc and any special programming required to get it to work. Also is it just the head unit or is there a "brain" that has to be replaced as well? (my 2012 Charger was a 2 part install for upgrade to the OEM nav unit)

Additional question, does anyone know the part number for the SD card for the Nav? Im looking at a head unit from a 2016 but doesn't include the SD card with the maps

Nope, just the head unit needs to be replaced. It is all plug and play from what I understand and all original screws will work as needed with the new head unit. The person I bought it from did give me their brackets from their car so I will be using those. I will let you know if they're exactly the same sometime tomorrow if you wanna know.

There was another thread that indicated you'd need a GPS antenna. The OEM one is over $100. There is an aftermarket one for $25 or something like that. I have an sr5 and briefly looked at doing this.

You would be better off getting an aftermarket head unit w/nav. The factory unit sucks, the maps are outdated, and dealers charge for "updated maps" that are newer, but often still not correct/up to date. Some aftermarket ones update automatically, or at the least, are free to download updates to SD/usb and put on head unit.

And this is pretty much the reason I didn't mess with getting an OEM unit with nav for y sr5. A guy had some for sale for around $400. You can get one of the pioneer Android auto units for not too much more (maybe cheaper now?). OEM nav almost always sucks.

I got the 7in headunit for $200 locally, I personally love the OEM look. I'll be installing it tomorrow and seeing what needs to be done in order for it fit correctly.

Sounds like a deal. I'd do the OEM for $200. I still think you need a GPS antenna, but I don't know for sure.

I called my friend who works for Toyota and I have the GPS Antenna on top of my car already and he thinks it should work. Will update tomorrow.

Just installed it. Fits perfectly. Only thing now is to modify the SR5 or purchase the Sport/Offroad trim.

can anyone tell me if I can upgrade to the JBL version of the stereo w/integrated Nav if I have just the regular stock stereo with hard buttons on the sides? wasnt sure if there were things that the JBL stereo head needed or if it was just plug and play like the one I currently have

I have the Navi/Antenna without JBL and it's the same. If you have the JBL version you obviously won't have JBL equipment, but the headunit will work plug and play. You will also have to buy the new trim to fit the navi headunit which cost around $200.

so I would be able to do a direct head unit swap for the Entune Premium head unit (JBL version) and would work just fine, just wouldnt have the JBL sound due to the lack of speakers.. looking at doing this soon so just trying to get questions answered so I don't buy something I can't use.. also in addition to the obvious trim part (happen to know the part number for the correct one for the Nav compatible head unit?) would I need to change out the antenna or any other parts or will it all function for Nav?

Here's the part that you need.

I would check for the antenna on top of your roof, if you have that NAVI will work.
