Yikes!! No air in spare tire

    Of course, if your truck HAS a TPMS sensor in the spare, that will set it off as well.

    Last I checked, stock tires said max pressure 44-51psi. Any more is unsafe, and frankly, stupid to suggest people air theirs up that high

    I think it's around 7 or 8 below the set point, but I've inflated my rear tires 10psi higher when towing or hauling with no warning light, so should be fine at 5 or 6 over.

    When it's below zero my TPMS idiot light may come on. If it does, I air up the 4 on the ground. Then I have a neat little reminder to air up the spare when it warms up, at which time I adjust them all anyway.

    The spare will fit with it hung valve down for easy access. While you're at it, put some rubber shims between the tire and frame to keep wear to a minimum. I used 4-4X6" pieces cut from an old bed mat, zip tied to the tire seat. You can tell where to place them by the rub marks on the seat. Also put a chalk mark on the tread where the valve is, so it's easy to position for access when you crank it up. I keep mine pointed to the right, between the hitch and tailpipe. Maybe the other side if you're left handed.

    This was on my spare when I bought the truck. Lets you check air pressure or add air without dropping your spare. One bolt clamps it onto the wheel. I think you can get it at an RV supply store.

    Neat little device, looks more substantial than just an extension dongle. However, you might have to remove it to actually use the spare, and/or It might change the balance? I just turned the spare over so the valve is facing down. It fits/works the same either way, works with both cable and chain lifts.

    You're right about removing it if you need to use the spare. Just back off that nut and it slides right off.
