Purchasing a Tacoma with cash

I heard the same bullshit from the sales person, funny thing is my wife is a financial advisor for Raymond James. I don't take advice from her, why would I take advise from a car salesman.

 

Oh I did, even noted that they tried to buy my scores by giving my another 350 off. I actually refused the 350 at first, but one of the higher ups told me the would send a check anyways.

 

You live in Miami. They think you are a drug dealer. Trying to launder money. Did you offer them a money order or cashier check?

 

They don't give a rats ass where the money comes from, as long as they get every cent possible on their vehicles.

 

I paid cash for my 2017 at Carson City Toyota in Carson City NV, and they gladly took my money for an SR5 that was already on order and the way I wanted it. I put $2000 down and when I picked it up I wrote a personal check for the balance and was on my way in a little over an hour start to finish.

 

Untrue I would not be surprised they have to report all purchases made with cash above 10K.

 

That's a check, it is not the same as cash.

 

I live in Key West. I handle them my plastic. (debt checking card) I swear the headbanger look had do something with it.

On Sept 1st 2016 my personal check to Carson City Toyota was considered cash by them, as I did not have to wait for the check to clear the bank and I drove off in my new truck.

 

I'm gonna second this... I think it is a regional thing for you. Maybe an assumption of drug money...?

 

Perhaps the dealer doesn't have the equipment to check each bill for counterfeits, so financing is their preference to make more money from you in the long term.

 

The dealer wants you to tell people hey I only paid X for my truck. While in reality you paid at least 2k maybe even 4k more with interest. My dealer said yeah you could pay cash but the price is 1700 more. So I took their crappy finance but I am not allowed to pay it off for 7 months. Its all dishonest nonsense.

 

I also always put the first few thousand on my Amex so I get some cash back.

 

Because some people have enough money to pay cash and like to have everything they own paid for up front, like me

It also is less bother with the title because of not having to get the original title stamped with a lien release , new title after payoff or however they do in nowadays . One less chance for an error by a high paid bank teller or one of our wonderful guberment workers.
