So I've had nothing but problems with my PSC hydro assist since installing it a couple of years ago. It always seems to feel like there is air in the system. I'm running a PSC pump, reservoir, box and ram. Except for the high pressure line from the pump to the box, the reservoir is the highest point in the system. Running Swepco fluid (have also tried Amsoil and Royal Purple).

Any tips/tricks to getting this bled correctly?

The method I have been using has been to fill, apply vacuum to the vent on the resevoir cap to draw out air (filling and repeating until the fluid level stays consistent), then turning the tires (filling and repeating until the fluid level stays consistent), then starting the truck for 30 secs and refilling, then left and right with it running 10-15 times.

Did you try bleeding the steering box? When I installed my new box that's the first thing I had to do. When I installed the Psc pump and ram I just started it and slowly touched the steering wheel and kept adding fluid till it leveled off. Then I bled the box again and topped off. No problems since.

Are your fittings on the ram turned up so that you can get the air out? My ram only fits in one way and the fittings are orientated low on the ram so air gets trapped in it. I have to pull the ram off to bleed the system if I ever crack it open. Major PITA

Just be a bleed valve on top of the box or the front. Just like doing brakes pretty much.

Got a pic? I've never seen a bleed valve on the steering box.

Apparently, only a couple years of boxes came with a bleeder valve. Of the three I have, none of them have one. I'm going to try and bleed the box by loosening the adjuster nut on the top, then re-bleed the rest as normal.

Well bleeding the box didn't work. I bled it the traditional way a few more times and it's a little better. I think something else is going on with my system.
