I "inherited" a Sirius radio and Pioneer 4200 NEX after upgrading my wife's car. When I initially installed the Sirius radio antenna in her vehicle (2014 Honda CRV) I could not fish the wire through the firewall so I cut the wire in half then soldered the wire back together. It worked great.

Note: I left the modified antenna with CRV; purchased new.

My truck is a 2007 double cab.

I did search the forum but could not find any information on the best mounting spots.

Where is the best place to route the antenna wire to the headunit?

    Thanks,

    Greg

I just set mine above the passengers seat on the roof. Routed it down along the window and inside the door, behind the glove box to the radio. I was worried the wire would eventual break because of opening and closing the passengers door but it's been fine for over 2 years now. Some people have had luck keeping it inside the cab, center dash area.

When I had the stock Sirius puck I just ran it up on top of the dash from the radio module I had in my glovebox. Reception sort of sucked with clouds out or whenever I guess I was driving opposite from the satellite (if that's how that works).

After that I had it up on the roof for a while using an aftermarket antenna. There is a small maybe 1" grommet on the passenger side of the engine bay you can run the wire into the cab through. There's some carpet behind it you'd need to snip a hole in then fish it on in with a straightened coat hanger or something.

Antenna is now mounted in the bed. Ran the cable from glovebox down to the plastic door silk trim pieces and out through the rear of the cab via a grommet behind the storage cubby.

Just a couple options based on what I've done.

Roof mounting was the best for reception. Never dropped out. Dropped out often on dash. Drops out rarely mounted on the bed rail.

Thank you. I ran it over drivers side roof down windshield weather stripping to engine bay. Could not figure how to get to cab. Saw the area on passenger side but thought I would not have enough cable. Ran it under truck up through drivers seat grommet.

In hindsight, should have followed your suggestions. What a cluster I made.

It is at radio now but not happy with placement; will not move again!
