Great trip write up, and photos. I was just looking for current tr's for top of the world and had to read the whole thing! I'm definitely going to have to check out the Moab area in depth, but may have to let the Easter jeeper's clear out. I know what I'm doing next weekend, and I'll look into Onion Creek for camping.

Thanks for the heads up. I've got a buddy coming down from Leadville heading to the Maze District next weekend. I figured we could park his stock '00 Taco at the base and run the trail in my rig.

Thanks, glad I kept you busy at work. :)

Sounds like a great birthday trip to me!

I can imagine it would be a little less fun with such a new clean vehicle, glad you're out using it though.

    Thanks, glad you enjoyed it!

    Thanks!

Yeah I'm not into big groups at all. I liked the size of our group on TOTW, three trucks is about perfect I think.

I remember the second night that we went back to stay at that campsite again there was another spot somewhere to the left on the trail. It was a few miles before the turn off for the spot we stayed and it wasn't far from the trail or secluded much, but it's an option if you can't find the other spot.

Maze district is on my list as something to do in one of my next trips out west.

I've got a few smaller trips planned for this summer down here in the Southeast, but I'm trying to figure out how to work another trip out to Utah or Colorado in this year.

Awesome write up! I would love to take a trip there, I mean it just doesn't get any better. How did the runner performed over all? Any suggestion as to what to bring tool/spare parts to this kinda trip?

The 4Runner performed flawlessly. Both reliable, and capable of doing everything I asked it to do offroad wise. Bring as many tools as you can. The only thing I will be adding to my list of things to bring next time are some common bolt sizes that Toyota uses. M8 by whatever or so. If I had had a set of bolts with me when I had the little mishap with my sway bar I would have been back on the trail much faster than I was since I had to scavenge around for a bolt that would fit and find washers to make it work. I was fortunate that I was able to find a bolt.
