Still waiting on my cook to finish, raining hard isn't helping.

Saturday put the dog in the truck and spent the day in the woods. Had the fishing pole but steams were high and knew they would be. Had a good time with the dog walking back into some places haven't been for awhile. Signs of Spring everywhere.

Beavers moved into one of the feeder streams where I have never seen them before. Got a 3 fer on this tree.



More woodies. The hen has a strange look on her face not sure what that is all about.

Surprisingly we have beaver down here too. We have some cottonwood grows as part of the management plan, since they are native, that are on the river and provide habitat for the birds. There are spots the beaver access the river near the cottonwoods. I've yet to see one, but I've seen some tracks as well as felled trees.

 

We've got (3) brush fires burning right now in the I.E

200 acres burning in the Cajon Pass

15 acres burning in Corona

1350 acres burning in Riverside

Mornin gang. The start to another fun week. This morning might be interesting. Last week a group of us turned in our keys and cards with the permission of the owner as a practical joke. The PM/scheduler who went on vacation is the recipient of the fun and games.

 

Good morning. Still raining, 36* and Monday. Just wonderful.

Stopped cooking after 14 hours last night, could have gone a little longer to caramelize more but still turned out pretty damn good. Breakfast, lunch and dinner.

I knew Northern Az. had beavers in the mountains, wasn't sure how far South they were. I think people would be surprised by just how much wildlife there is and where. I saw my first mule deer in Cleveland National Forest outside San Diego years ago, I wasn't expecting that.

Beavers prefer working at night but in the fall work around the clock putting up wood\food for the winter. Almost ran this guy over in the road a couple of years ago and he never really seemed concerned about me I took a picture out the front windshield.



The beaver dams can create some interesting driving situations at times and often close the roads with flooding. Hard bottoms are good.

 

We have them in the Sierras as well, they flood out the hiking trails near the streams

All the heavy rain this winter made for more fuel for the brush fires . The sky is hazy with smoke from the fire in Riverside and happy to hear its now 60% containment
