Im an idiot! I realized I screwed up, just not sure exactly what went wrong. I'm assuming the cables popped back off after installing the panels.

No excuses but I'm recovering from foot surgery and decided I've been laying around long enough so I installed the speakers. Took my time and made sure everything went smoothly, not sure how I made the mistake twice but I did. How do I fix this mess and what exactly went wrong so the same thing doesn't happen when I do the front?

Thanks and go easy on me LOL

Seems odd, as the cables shouldn't affect the exterior handles. Silly question, have you tried locking and unlocking it and then opening it from both sides?

Sounds like one of the rods that the handle pulls to open the lock came off.

if you can't open from inside or out then you'll have to get a locksmith or you can see if you can find a slimjim or hanger to pop it loose.

The exterior handle is usually a metal rod, the cable system is typically just the interior, as breader3 said. Does it not work from both inside and out? Or just one? If both don't work, perhaps the latch is disconnected somehow.

    So odd.

I'd either go with the slim Jim option, or attempt to pull a corner of the door panel off from the inside to see if you could grab that cable with a pair of needle nose pliers.

If you have AAA they should be able to get your door unlocked at least. Did you take any pictures of your door after you put down your sound deadening/speakers/whatever you did?

Unfortunetley I don't have AAA and No pictures were taken.

Toyota sent a roadside person which is similar to AAA I believe. He was the one who said a Jimmy wouldnt not work. If that's true should I even bother with a locksmith?

Put the window all the way down and see if you can get access through the slot.

Did you reconnect the window controls on the inside of the door? I left one unconnected one time and none of the window would roll up until I reconnected it. Maybe it's the same way with the locks? :notsure: If you really had to you could at least shine a light through the door if you take out the cup looking holder (if it's anything like my 2nd gen).

Also, does the handle feel like it's locked when you pull on it from either side or as if it's stuck on something?
