Anyone running a bed rack and an RTT in conjunction with a tailgate pad for their bikes? I'm going to be pulling the trigger soon on a setup, and I'm trying to gauge how low of a rack I can get away with, and still fit the rear wheels, etc. under the rack with the bikes over the tailgate. I'd prefer to get a bed rack that's lower than roof height, maybe in the mid-height range, to keep the RTT at or below the roof line.

I've seen a couple of pictures of this setup, but I think most have been custom racks, not prebuilt. Worst case scenario, I can load my bikes up and measure how much clearance I'd need as a minimum, but figured I'd ask the collective and see if there's a known working setup.

Picked up the RakAttach swing out for my Kuat... game changer for using the back of your truck with a bike on it.

It was 375+30 shipping. You have to email the guy from Rakattach and they fab up the rack to swing out whichever way you prefer. It holds up to 350lbs if I remember correctly and you can use it with other hitch mounted accessories. However, if you're in the market for a whole new bike rack, Rockymounts recently came out with a swing out platform rack.

I know someone else posted this a while back, but I confirmed this weekend that the new Kuat NV 2.0 allows you to drop the tailgate with the rack in the untitled position. I have the old style Kuat like co4runnin and the tailgate will hit.

I have the old one and definitely couldn't drop the tailgate, and my wide bars would bump the topper in the closest position. The RakAttach moved the rack and bike far enough away from the car, that it's no longer an issue. That being said... the swing out also adds an extra 8" of length to the Tacoma.

My bars hit too, 800mm does not fit with a topper. Do you see any additional bounce or whip with that extra 8" in the hitch length? Some of the roads I access are not exactly paved! Of course, looking at your pic, it does not look like you take paved roads either.

It came with hitch tightner u-bolt (similar to This ) that makes it super sturdy with no wobble and the Kuat tightening system keeps the bikes nice and snug to the RakAttach.

Definitely agree... but its actually not terribly steep when you consider it's made by a guy in Park City, UT, USA and it's still cheaper than a set of sliders while being much more complicated.

I also have the RakAttach and have been running it for a little over a year now - can confirm that it's an excellent product. I did swap out the anti-rattle thing for one of these - which is much easier to take on and off (plus was more sturdy). https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00LB0OX2E/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Took my buddy, his trail dog and my dog out for a ride and to shoot a few clips for our local trail work group this past weekend.

This is the quick clip we made:

And here is Oskar impatiently waiting to hit the trails! Have to keep him in the bed while we get ready otherwise he will take off down the trail!

Dynatrac ProRock 60 Rear Axle, that is important enough.
    That's awesome!

My dog loves running trails, but has never done it with me being on the bike... might have to see how he does since he likes to walk right behind me.
